Two teen brothers from Toronto went out and purchased a copy of Grand Theft Auto V at midnight and on the way home they came across a house that was on fire with a 70-year-old man trapped inside. The boys called 911, heard a fire alarm going off from inside the house, broke down the door, and tried to rescue the man from his burning home. The smoke was so heavy it forced the brothers back outside but due to their quick thinking in calling first responders the fire department showed up and got them man from inside the burning house. I think this is my new favorite topic, things that happened to people while buying the new Grand Theft Auto or playing the new Grand Theft Auto. You can watch a video of the two teen heroes here.
Now, did buying this video game magically cause this house fire to happen and two teen brothers to become heroes? Duh, of course not. But considering the media is all too quick to blame many BAD things on playing video games with a violent reputation, we should all start blaming great things that happen on video games too. The saddest part about this story is that according to the video, the brothers still haven’t had time to play the game yet.
