School Arms Students With Cans Of Food To Throw At Shooters, Because Nothing Makes Sense Anymore

School Arms Students With Cans Of Food To Throw At Shooters, Because Nothing Makes Sense Anymore

Some days you read news stories that make complete sense, and other times you read things that are too crazy to even be an Onion headline. Sadly, this one falls into the latter category. A middle school in Alabama is in the news for sending home a letter with students, announcing plans to endow each kid with a can of food to throw at possible school intruders. This is what it’s come to, America: fighting off shooters with creamed corn. More »

Toddler Shoots And Kills Mother Who Probably Thought She Was A Responsible Gun Owner

Toddler Shoots And Kills Mother Who Probably Thought She Was A Responsible Gun Owner

A mother died yesterday at an Idaho Walmart after being shot with her own gun. She was carrying it in her purse, lawfully, but her toddler reached in and accidentally set it off, shooting her. Why wasn’t the safety on? Why was a purse with a gun in it in the reach of a 2-year old to begin with? And why did she feel the need to bring a gun into a Walmart? I’m not sure there are any valid responses to these questions and answering them won’t bring this mother back but it’s a discussion we must have in order to prevent this from happening again. More »

Here's A Twitter Roundup Of A Bunch Of Kids Who Got Guns For Christmas - Good Job, America!

Comedian Joe Mande did an impressive and depressing job of pointing out just how many people got guns for Christmas and ecstatically tweeted about it. He began retweeting a massive list of pro-gun Christmas tweets. Seriously, a lot of people get guns for Christmas — and a lot of those people are children. Apparently nothing says “I love you” like a handing a child a weapon. More »

Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, And So Is His AK-47

Do you ever get your Christmas cards back from the printer and as you’re filling them out think to yourself, “This picture of the kids on Santa’s lap would look so much better with a gun in it.” Well then, have I got just the thing for you. Dad Open Carries In Kid’s School, Because Second Amendment Trumps Kids’ Safety

Dad Open Carries In Kid's School, Because Second Amendment Trumps Kids' Safety

The school says it is trying to find a way to respect the parent’s Second Amendment rights while keeping the children at school safe — and plan on discussing how to do this moving forward at a district meeting on Monday. In the meantime, a spokesman for the school says they will put the school on lockdown every time some idiot insists on open carrying on school grounds. What a colossal waste of time and resources. How about just, “no.” You cannot bring your gun on to school property. Period. More »

Woman Accidentally Shoots Herself Inside Daycare, Which Probably Means It’s Not A Safe Place For Kids

Woman Accidentally Shoots Herself Inside Daycare, Which Probably Means It's Not A Safe Place For Kids

A woman accidentally shot herself inside a home daycare in Indiana last night. It’s a 24-hour-daycare so it’s quite possible there could have been kids inside, although that has not been confirmed. So I learned two things already today: 24-hour daycares exist and it’s A-ok to keep a gun in a home daycare in the state of Indiana as long as it’s locked. More »

If Your Daughter Wants A Pink Gun To Kill Zombies She Is Too Young To Own A Gun

If Your Daughter Wants A Pink Gun To Kill Zombies She Is Too Young To Own A Gun

I understand that if you have fire arms in your home, you would want your children to be comfortable around them and aware of their power in order to cultivate a healthy respect for these weapons. What I do not understand is how making them pink, frilly and adorable will help anyone. I think this “cuteification” of guns does nothing in the way of getting young girls to respect their power and if anything, downplays how very serious they are. More »
