Grab 5 Best Girlfriends and Run Away to the ‘Steel Magnolias’ Bed and Breakfast for a Weekend
There are two movies guaranteed to make me cry every time I watch them: Beaches, and Steel Magnolias. I grew up watching M’Lynn and the gals, and used to pretend I was from the South with an accent to match. That funeral scene? GET OUT. I want to cry right now just thinking about it. One of the best parts about that movie is the southern charm throughout. And now, you can have a little of that for yourself! There’s an actual Steel Magnolias bed and breakfast in Natchitoches, LA. The Steel Magnolia House was actually used in the movie; M’Lynn and Drum lived there, and much of the movie happens in and around it. Seriously, it’ll be like staying over at the Eatenton’s for the weekend.

Each room is named after a character in the movie. There’s the Ouiser, the Clairee, the Jackson, the Annelle, and of course, the master bedroom, which I assume is named after M’Lynn. The interior of the house doesn’t look much like it did in the movie (1989 southern design aesthetic was … interesting). But it’s absolutely gorgeous. And yes, the Shelby is tastefully done in lovely shades of blush and bashful.
The Steel Magnolia House also features memorabilia from the movie throughout, so guests really will feel like they’re part of cinematic history.
The property functions as a true bed and breakfast, so guests will enjoy a full home-cooked breakfast every morning. Not to mention that magical Southern hospitality. For some reason, I’ve never actually stayed at a bed and breakfast, but I think that needs to change! Home-cooked meals and friendly hosts? Sounds like a dream.
