Police Finally Make Arrests In Relation To The Rehtaeh Parsons Investigation

rehtaeh parsonsRehtaeh Parsons, the 17-year-old who died following a suicide attempt, following being sexually assaulted and then enduring photos of her sexual assault being circulated throughout her school for shits and giggles, may receive justice — albeit too late. Two years after her alleged assault, four months after her death and some rape-apologist fliers being posted outside her family’s home, police have made progress in the investigation.

Yahoo! News reports that Halifax RCMP have made two arrests:

This morning at 8 a.m., investigators from the Criminal Investigation Division arrested two males at their respective residences in HRM. They are in police custody and are currently being questioned by investigators.

No further information is being released at this time.

While a prior investigation into Rehtaeh’s assault proved pretty inconclusive (and her mother has plenty to say about that), efforts by Anonymous reportedly provided enough “details” to resuscitate the case. Months ago, the group claimed that they were sitting on four names of her alleged rapists, tapping their foot waiting for police.

Yahoo! News describes the announcement as “bizarre” given that there are currently no accompanying charges.

And so we wait.
