Princess culture is pretty new to American girlhood. While the fascination with princesses is pretty timeless, it wasn’t until fairly recently that Disney and the like starting turning that tiara volume to 11 with a 24/7 saturation of everything pink. And while princess play certainly isn’t a problematic activity for girls, many of the princess tropes rightly put parents between a rock and a cultural hard place.

So to find a little respite from your daughter’s plastic jeweled-haven, please enjoy a little Princess humor on us. Because although the commercial monster should concern many a modern parent looking to raise thoughtful, independent girls, the messages are oh so easy to mock.
