A Woman Challenged Her Husband to a Pregnancy Workout and It Was Too Funny

Doing anything when you’re pregnant is a challenge, but exercising while pregnant is especially difficult. Your body hurts, your center of gravity is off, and you’re exhausted from gestating a tiny human 24/7. I could barely get off the couch during my pregnancies, so I’m especially impressed by preggos who not only manage to exercise, but manage to exercise regularly. One pregnant mom decided to challenge her husband to a “pregnancy workout” so he could experience how tough it is, and the results were pretty funny.

Fitness Instagrammer Anna Strode has regularly chronicled her pregnancy workouts at @bubs2bikinis. The mom already has twin boys and is pregnant with her third child, a girl. Earlier this week, Anna posted a video of herself and her husband working out with the caption, “Challenged the hubby to a pregnancy workout. Let’s just say it didn’t go so well….His response as soon as we taped the weighted ball to him was ‘OH OUCH, this really hurts your back hey’ and yep – that’s the reason women have babies and not men.”

Strode’s husband immediately struggled with lifting kettlebell weights around his “belly,” and actually knocked the weight into it several times. Still, he mostly managed to keep up with his wife until they started to do jumping squats. That’s when the weight they’d strapped onto his stomach broke free.

While I appreciate that her husband attempted to work out with a weight strapped to his stomach, I think a more accurate pregnancy workout would be to strap the weight on 24 hours before exercising. Also, the man must get up every two hours to pee, even at night, and he also has to carry on his regular schedule with the weighted stomach still attached to his midsection. After a day of soreness and little sleep, then I’d like to see how well a guy can do in a pregnancy workout!
