A Maryland teen’s mass shooting plan was recently foiled by none other than her parents. 18-year-old Nichole Cervario’s violent plot was discovered in detail inside her personal journal. Her attack was set for April 5th, where she planned to end her own life after shooting several others. One can only imagine the kind of shock and horror her parents experienced at discovering their daughter’s plot.

One of Cervario’s parents reported the plot to Catoctin High School officials this past Thursday. Soon after, Cervario was removed from her class and hospitalized for a mental health evaluation. According to Frederick County Sherrif Charles Jenkins, Cervario’s diary alone showed “evidence of mental health issues, emotional issues.” However, her troubles do not appear to be linked to bullying.

According to reports from NBC News, Frederick County officials retrieved a shot gun, ammunition, plus ingredients to make explosives from the Thurmont teen’s home. The explosive materials were not yet put together in a way to actually create a bomb, though. So far, it appears that Cervarios was acting alone, though the direct reason behind her plot is still unclear.

Cervario’s attorney has not made any comment, but one can only imagine her parents are in need of much privacy after this horrifying discovery. There is already an arrest warrant out for the teen for “possession of explosive material with intent to create a destructive device,” as well as, “possession of incendiary material with the intent to create a destructive device.” For now, though, Cervario remains in the hospital.
