Pageant Mom Gives Botox To 8-Year-Old Daughter

File under disturbing. A California mom and part-time aesthetician has been injecting Botox into her 8-year-old daughter’s face.

“We were getting into the [beauty] pageants,” Kerry, the mom, told Good Morning America earlier today. “I knew she was complaining about her face, having wrinkles, and things like that. When I brought it up to [my daughter] Britney she was all for it.”

Huh?!

I truly had to do a double take while watching this segment. The most disturbing part is the pure innocence on the little girls’ face (and, trust me, it’s not from all those anti-wrinkle injections). Sweet little Britney has no clue why this might be considered controversial or, okay, I’ll just ahead and say it, highly inappropriate!

Kerry typically administers the Botox to Britney through a total of five shots, in three different locations on her face. “It hurts sometimes,” said Britney. “It makes me nervous. But I get used to it.”

I’m not the judgmental type, especially when it comes to parenting styles, but I want to hop on the next flight out to California, swoop up Britney and tell her that she’s beautiful just the way she is (and I want to smack Kerry on the head). I may not get the whole beauty-pageant lifestyle but I do know that no child should be subjected to pain in the name of beauty. It’s a dangerous lesson to be teaching our children.
