Deranged Mother Sneaks 5-Year-Old Daughter Into Tanning Booth To Get That Glam Glow

tanningTanning has been deemed so dangerous that California became the first state ever to ban minors from tanning salons. Although the ban sure puts a damper on many a Los Angeles teen’s prom dreams, the law was put into place to protect the skin of young people — who upon doing their research — often found that salons were lying to them about the risks. But don’t bother sharing these facts with one New Jersey mother who snuck her 5-year-old into her tanning session.

According to The Huffington Post, New Jersey law prevents children under the age of 14 from getting tanned in salons. However, the tanning salon in question was not charged as 44-year-old Patricia Krentcil reportedly smuggled her kid inside. School officials noticed that the kindergarten girl had a “severe sunburn,” prompting the arrest of Patricia on second degree child endangerment charges.

The mother confirms that she brought her child to the salon but denies that her daughter was in the booth with her. Her father too, Rich Krentcil, maintains that the kid was sunburned from playing outside. Patricia told the press:

“I tan, she doesn’t tan,” Krentcil said on NBC. “I’m in the booth, she’s in the room. That’s all there is to it.”

The little girl’s grandfather has since taken temporary custody of her where she can hopefully remain tanning bed-free. And had this mother had an audition for Toddlers & Tiaras next on her list of errands that day, I wouldn’t be surprised.
