Disney Junior Is Bringing Back ‘The Muppet Babies’!

I don’t know what’s happening here, guys. Is there some sort of conspiracy to bring back our childhoods? We have Polly Pocket, My Little Pony, Caboodles, and now THIS. Disney Junior, a channel for children (allegedly) is bringing back my absolute favorite Saturday morning cartoon, The Muppet Babies. You guys. I loved this show. Like, LOVED IT. It was the highlight of my Saturday morning cartoon ritual. I love all the Muppet movies, but the Muppet Babies cartoon was just so good. And now we get to relive it with our kids!

The Muppet Babies reboot will be just like the original. But, you know, with better animation and brighter colors. Thanks, technology!

Ahhhhhhhh, they’re just as cute as I remember! The new series will debut on Disney Junior later this month, and will stick to the script of the original. All of the babies will live together in a nursery being watched over by The Nanny. It looks like the whole crew is back: Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo, and Animal. There’s also a new character named Summer, who appears to be some kind of penguin. I can dig it.

When my nieces were babies, they were obsessed with The Backyardigans, which was like an updated version of the Muppet Babies. It sounds like this new reboot will be very similar.

The babies play pretend games, which turn into real-life adventures. It’s a show about creativity, imagination, and just a bunch of babies being babies. It’s geared toward the 4 – 7 age group, but listen. I am 36 years old and I will be watching this show every damn day. Even if my kids aren’t interested.

The series debuts on Disney Junior on March 23. But if you don’t wait to wait a few weeks for your fix, Disney Junior is also releasing little shorts to tide us over until then. Let’s all enjoy this little piece of our childhood once again.
