Adorable alert! When 8-year-old Myles Eckert  found $20 in a restaurant parking lot he didn’t do what most kids his age would. Instead of spending it on some candy he gave it to a soldier to thank him for his service to the US. Myles was only five weeks old when his dad, Sgt. Andy Eckert was killed in Iraq. I honor of his father’s memory, Myles wrapped the money in a heartwarming note and handed it to Lt. Col. Frank Dailey, who was eating lunch.

The note read:

“Dear Soldier – my dad was a soldier. He’s in heaven now. I found this 20 dollars in the parking lot when we got here. We like to pay it forward in my family. It’s your lucky day! Thank you for your service. Myles Eckert, a gold star kid.”

According to CBS Myles was ecstatic after finding the money and began planning a way to give back with it. When he saw the solider having lunch, he knew he wanted to give to him ,”because he was a soldier, and soldiers remind me of my dad.”

“It’s incredible being recognized in such a manner,’ he said. ‘I look at it (the note) every day.”

Myles was too young to remember his dad, but he learned a lot from him through stories and photos:

“I imagine him as a really nice person and somebody that would be really fun.”

I think Myles’ dad would be very, very proud.
