Moms Are Nuts Book Giveaway With Gloria Fallon

Since my twins were born eight years ago, I’ve written a great deal about them and about the joys and nightmares of being a mother. So when Amy Vansant, a funny writer I know from Twitter, asked if I’d like to write an essay about moms for a humor anthology she was editing, I was definitely interested. Writing about my mom instead of my children would be a fun change of pace.

Amy explained that she was looking for essays that had ”a healthy respect and love for our mothers ”¦ and also an acknowledgment that the ”˜my mom is crazy’ sentiment is a universal experience.” While it’s not okay for anyone else to call your mom crazy, it’s perfectly fine to do it yourself.

Having grown up with both my mother and my grandmother (who lived in my backyard) watching my every move, I didn’t need to become a mother myself to know that almost all moms are nuts every once in a while. I wrote my essay about ”The Three Glorias”””me, my mom and my grandma (yes, we are all named Gloria and no, I would not recommend that anyone try that at home).

Contributors to the collection include comedian Abbi Crutchfield, award-winning humorist Wendi Aarons, comedy writer Eliza Bayne and Comedy Editor for the Huffington Post, Carol Hartsell. Knowing all of these ladies personally and being able to vouch that they are all the type you want to sit around and swap stories with, I couldn’t wait to read the final product. I was not disappointed, and became a fan of many of the other writers in the anthology. I hope you will as well.
