Mom Lets Terrified 12-Year-Old Daughter Help Deliver Baby Brother

Witnessing the birth of a baby is, hands-down, one of the greatest experiences on Earth. It’s a magical moment that’s made even more meaningful if you’re related to the baby entering the world. A 12-year-old girl had the most memorable moment of her life last week when she unexpectedly got to deliver her baby brother.

Jacee Dellapena of Jackson, Mississippi was already feeling lucky that she was able to be in the delivery room with her mom. The 12-year-old had asked to be in the room when her other brother was born a few years ago, but her parents had decided against it. But when it came time for Jacee’s mom, Dede Carraway, to start pushing, Jacee started crying. “I started crying because I thought I wasn’t going to get to see him be born, because I was too short,” the girl told MS News Now.

Luckily for Jacee, her mom’s Obstetrician was more than willing to let her get a better view. “Doctor Wolf said, ‘Why don’t you just let her suit up and deliver the baby?'” said Dede. The mom was hesitant, but the doctor pulled Jacee right in, as these now-viral photos show.

When the doctor asked Jacee if she wanted to “suit up and deliver the baby like a real doctor,” the girl excitedly agreed. The doctor really let her experience the whole thing. According to Jacee, the doc guided her hands throughout the whole birth, helping her as she did everything. “I actually, like delivered him, he let me actually push down and pull the baby out. I was like, wow, I’ve played fake doctor before, but this is the real thing, this is is the real deal. I was really nervous,” Jacee said.

Jacee’s mom, Dede, said that her epidural wasn’t working and she was in terrible pain. However, watching her daughter deliver her son, Cayson, made the pain bearable. “Seeing the emotions on her face, it made me cry. I’m about to cry now! It was just a good moment for me,” said Dede.

Despite the nerves, Jacee said it was worth it. “It was the best moment of my life!” she exclaimed.

So sweet! Congratulations to the whole family!
