Check Out This Awesome ‘Mister Rogers’ Remix

mr rogers neighborhoodI was getting kind of down over this week’s news stories all this horrible stuff about child abuse and the like when I stumbled across this gem: A mash-up video of famed children’s icon Fred Rogers (aka Mister Rogers). Symphony of Science’s John “Melodysheep” Boswell teamed up with PBS Digital Studios to produce “Garden Of Your Mind,” an awesome remix that will transport you right back to your childhood.

Mister Rogers asks questions like, “Did you ever grow anything in the garden of your mind?” which I just love. That’s because there are few shows that encourage kids to use their imagination like Mister Rogers. Sure, his whole half-speaking-half-singing shtick could get annoying, but there was always something so pure and genuine about his message.

I have a feeling that it’s adults who’ll be all into this video more so than children but I, for one, am excited to share it with my kids when they get home from school today. Though, now that I think about it, it might not do it for them since they’re currently obsessed with LMFAO and little else (that’s normal for a 6- and 3-year-old, right?).

“When we discovered video mash-up artist John D. Boswell on YouTube, we immediately wanted to work together,” PBS Digital Studios said on the description to the video. “Turns out that he is a huge Mister Rogers Neighborhood fan, and was thrilled at the chance to pay tribute to one of our heroes.”

“Garden Of Your Mind” actually marks the first in a new video series titled “PBS Icon Remixed.” We can’t wait to see who’s next!
