Tabloids Concoct Scary Miscarriage Porn For Jessica Simpson

Jessica SimpsonJessica Simpson Suffers Terrifying Miscarriage Scare! claims the trashiest of all trashy tabloids, the National Enquirer. This horrifying-if-true and despicable-if-false headline represents a new low in the already mystifying depths of celebrity pregnancy coverage for America’s tabloids.

The story, dubbed “miscarriage porn” by our own Koa Beck, goes a little like this.

The Enquirer claims that while walking on the beach in Hawaii, Simpson “overexerted herself” and was terrified that she might be losing her newly-announced pregnancy. An alleged insider claims that Simpson, ”let out a bloodcurdling scream, doubled over in pain and collapsed on a nearby bed.” They go on to contend that Jessica made it through the rest of the vacation and was later told by her doctors in LA that ”her pain had been caused by a severe bout of morning sickness coupled with normal pregnancy cramping.”

Can you believe it? The National Enquirer had someone in Jessica’s doctor’s appointment with her, just a fly on the wall listening to her medical condition.

The reality of the situation, that GossipCop deftly points out, is that this is the second time the Enquirer has made up a “miscarriage scare” for Simpson. They did the same thing during her first pregnancy. What’s more, people who actually work with Simpson completely shot down the awful story.

Tabloids aren’t just critiquing new mom’s bodies days after they give birth. They aren’t imagining that every celebrity under the sun is pregnant and falsely reporting it as a fact. They’re new concocting fake miscarriage scares, as if celebrities were their own personal soap opera characters.

These are human beings we’re talking about, even if we sometimes forget. Jessica Simpson is a real woman who is going through her pregnancy, and she has to read about supposed miscarriage scare in the tabloids. Losing a pregnancy is not just some plot twist. It is agonizing and horrible. That anyone would belittle that trauma by lying and deception, pretending that it’s just another part of the celeb pregnancy story, is awful.

There were plenty of reasons to despise the tabloids before this story. At some point though, the public needs to tell these goons that we no longer accept their dishonesty. Perhaps fake miscarriage porn is a good place to draw that line.
