Huckabee Mansplains Why Women Don’t Want Their Birth Control Covered, Fails Miserably

2012 Republican National Convention: Day 3Mike Huckabee, former Arkansas governor, presidential candidate (former and possible future) and professional moron (okay, I ad-libbed that last bit), attempted to convince women everywhere that they don’t want their birth control to be covered by Uncle Sam, by using a little trick called reverse psychology at the RNC winter meeting.  It didn’t work, because women aren’t a bunch of idiots.

According to Huckabee, Uncle Sam is our big, fat, birth control pimp and provider – because he allows the insurance plans that we pay for to cover our birth control, and we’re all waaaay too strong and smart to accept that kind of help, right? Right?

Women I know are outraged that Democrats think that women are nothing more than helpless and hopeless creatures whose only goal in life is to have the government provide for them birth control medication. Women I know are smart, educated, intelligent, capable of doing anything that anyone else can do. Our party stands for the recognition of the equality of women and the capacity of women. That’s not a war on them, that’s a war for them.

And if the Democrats want to insult the women of America by making them believe that they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing for them a prescription each month for birth control because they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of government then so be it! Let us take that discussion all across America because women are far more than the Democrats have played them to be. And women across America have to stand up and say enough of that nonsense.

Reverse psychology is a fun tool. My three-year-old uses it when he’s trying to play with my phone. He walks up to me, looks at my phone, then pretends he wants to play with whatever other toy is in the vicinity. Then he says, That’s mommy’s phone. I don’t want mommy’s phone. Then he tries to grab the phone and run. It’s kind of cute.

It’s not too cute when an adult man like Huckabee does it though. Also, I think he’s confusing birth control pills with viagra, because I’m not quite sure where all this “libido” nonsense is coming from.

Birth control is a necessary component of women’s health services, dummy. Uncle Sugar actually has to open his pockets even more when we all have a bunch of babies we don’t want and can’t afford. Hence, the miracle of birth control.

Will Huckabee ever go away? Republicans dig their own graves when they talk about women and birth control, so maybe we should all be glad that he’s so clueless.

Here’s the whole clip if you can stomach it.
