I’ve been hyperventilating about this news since it broke yesterday. Walt Disney Studios has announced a live-action remake of The Lion King 2019, and cast is something out of a dream. When I first saw the lineup yesterday, I reserved my excitement until an hour of Googling confirmed that, YES, this is real. I just don’t even know how to process it.

The live-action version of The Lion King 2019 will tell the story of Simba and his pride we all fell in love with in 1994. The animated version was an instant classic, but it has NOTHING on the remake.

Disney has assembled quite possible the most all-star cast to ever grace the silver screen. The film will be directed by Jon Favreau, who also directed the live-action version of The Jungle Book. The movie will follow the storyline of the original animated film. In case you need a refresher, The Lion King tells the story of Simba, a young lion trying to save his pride after his Uncle Scar kills his father Mufasa in a coup.

But it’s the confirmed cast of The Lion King 2019 that has people seriously losing their minds (like me, I am losing my mind, it me).
