Kristin Cavallari Is Totally Pumped About Her Decision Not To Vaccinate Her Child Against Deadly Diseases

Watch What Happens Live - Season 11Kristin Cavallari got a lot of press last week for coming out as an anti-vaxxer. She’s totally unaffected by it. She still stands behind her horrible decision to leave her kids unvaccinated against deadly diseases that will certainly make a comeback if more parents like her continue to chip away at herd immunity by refusing to vaccinate their children.

She told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live:

”At the end of the day, I’m just a mom. I’m trying to make the best decision for my kid. There are very scary statistics out there regarding what is in vaccines”¦ and what they cause. Asthma, allergies, ear infections, all kinds of things. We feel like we’re making the best decision for our kids.”

Oh totally. Because ear infections are waaaay worse than measles. Or polio. Or Whooping cough. I could go on, but I won’t. She failed to mention the autism excuse she gave the first time she was asked about the issue:

”I understand both sides of it. I’ve ready too many books about autism and there’s some scary statistics out there. It’s our personal choice, and, you know, if you’re really concerned about your kid get them vaccinated.”

I have an idea – let’s stop asking celebrities who have no medical background whatsoever what they think about things as important as vaccines. She’s deciding she’d rather her child be exposed to deadly diseases than be exposed to the things she thinks are caused by vaccinations, like asthma and allergies. Okay.

This would be as good a time as any to address the “if your child is vaccinated, why do you care what other people do” question that so often comes up when we talk about a parent’s decision not to vaccinate. Most people still care about this because certain diseases can’t be vaccinated against until children are 12-months-old. It’s a danger for infants and those with compromised immune systems to be around those who are unvaccinated. Also, herd immunity is diminishing because of parents who are refusing to vaccinate their kids. Having a child who cannot be vaccinated because of medical reasons and choosing not to vaccinate a perfectly healthy child are two different things.

I have no medical background either, I just happen to believe in science. I have a hard time understanding people who use no logic or common sense. The autism link has been debunked numerous times. I have an innate distrust of pharmaceutical companies, too, but does anyone actually believe that almost every, single pediatrician out there is in the pocket of big pharma? That’s absurd.

When your right as a parent to make decisions for your child affects the health of others – it’s not longer a personal choice. It’s a public nuisance.
