Kanye Snaps, Allegedly Attacks Photographer At LAX

shutterstock_100979740__1374325109_142.196.156.251The stress of new fatherhood may have gotten to Kanye West. He allegedly attacked a photographer at Los Angeles International Airport yesterday. Frankly, I don’t blame him for snapping. Being a new parent is stressful as hell. Also, these “photographers” are total jerks.

While I’m sure Kim Kardashian and Kanye have nannies and all of the support they need, coming to terms with the fact that you have made another human being and will be responsible for that human being for a very long time can be nerve-wracking. I can’t imagine what it would be like to have someone constantly in your face, asking personal questions and snapping photos.

I get it. He’s famous: “this is what he signed up for.” How many times have you heard someone say that? But can you imagine being followed around constantly, having people incessantly prying into your life? I get a little personal joy when I see a paparazzo pushed back. As an artist and photographer, I take issue with these people calling themselves “photographers.” There is nothing artistic about what they do. They’re vultures. From The Daily Mail:

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Airport Police said in a statement to X17online: ‘Today at approximately 2:00 p.m., at the Tom Bradley International Terminal (on the arrival level curbside), Los Angeles Airport Police officers were flagged down by a citizen (photographer) who alleged that he was taking pictures of an individual when he was battered by the subject.’

‘The alleged subject was not at the location nor was he observed by officers at the scene.’

Adding: ‘LAFD was notified, responded to the location and transported the victim to a local hospital for medical attention. A police report was taken by the Los Angeles Police Department and the investigation is ongoing.’

I think if you make a living invading someone’s personal space, you should prepare to be attacked. If your life’s work consists of shoving your camera in someone’s face – that camera had better be insured. And if you push a new parent, you’re probably going to get pushed back. You can see the photos here. The guy is clearly milking his “injuries.” It looks like West grabbed his camera from his hands and he fell to the ground in one shot. In the next shot he’s being attended by paramedics and being given oxygen. Give me a break.

West may be facing felony attempted robbery charges.
