Considering that the average American woman gets about only 12 weeks (maximum!) of unpaid maternity leave, getting our postpartum selves back to the hypothetical office is a struggle many women are familiar with. And in a totally “Stars! They’re just like us!’ kind of moment, Jessica Simpson bemoans that exact timeline — only, you know, with scores of trainers and nannies and cooks.
The soon-to-be mother of two told People magazine that motherhood is stellar, but also “challenging.” And her schedule has just about the world to do with it:
“On some of the days of Fashion Star, I’m awake before
is awake, and I’m not home until she’s already back to sleep,” she explains.
“That’s only happened about four times, but it makes the day awful. I definitely need to see my baby.”
“I get really sad if I don’t get to see her,” she continues. “And then when Maxwell sees me, she just stares at me and touches my face. I can tell she missed me. That breaks my heart.”
Ah, yes. The old they’re asleep when you’re leaving/asleep by the time you get home work-life balance ballad. “Only about four times,” however, is a quite a different (privileged) interlude.
