Welp, Love Is Dead: Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum Separate After 8 Years of Marriage

Siiiiiiiigh. This one hurts, guys. Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum have announced that they’re separating after 8 years of marriage. They have one child together, Everly, 4. The couple each released a prepared statement on their social media accounts. In a time when marriages come and go, this one seemed like it was going to last, you know? Obviously we don’t know what goes on behind closed doors, but man. With some couples, you just get a sense that they really dig each other and are in it for the long-haul. And then love dies a painful, cruel death all over again.

Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan Tatum announced the split via a prepared joint message. It was very classy, very vague, and very sad.

“We have lovingly chosen to separate as a couple. We fell deeply in love so many years ago and have had a magical journey together. Absolutely nothing has changed about how much we love one another, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now. There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision””just two best-friends realizing it’s time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible. We are still a family and will always be loving dedicated parents to Everly. We won’t be commenting beyond this, and we thank you all in advance for respecting our family’s privacy. Sending lots of love to everyone, Chan&Jenna.”

Channing and Jenna met on the set of the dance movie Step Up back in 2006, and were married in 2009.

Jenna told Ellen Degeneres that she had given Channing an ultimatum of sorts when they were dating. She said, “[I was like] ‘Look, if you want to date other people and be free, that’s totally fine, but we’re not going to hang out and ‘watch movies. ‘You’ve got to figure out what you want, because I know I want to be in a relationship.'”

Later that night, after going out with some of the other dancers in the film, Channing Tatum showed up at her hotel room wearing nothing but a sombrero, undies, and Uggs.

He had gone out with all the dancers on Step Up and had this crazy, wild tequila night and he said he had the chance ‘to be free’ and he couldn’t stop thinking about me. So, he comes down to my hotel room at two in the morning and he’s banging on the door, and I’m like, ‘What is going on?’ And I go and I open the door, and he’s in a sombrero. He’s naked””no, sorry. He has underwear””underwear, sombrero and Ugg boots, and he’s like, ‘Let’s do this.'” UGGGGGH 🙁

Fans of the couple are understandably devastated.

Like I said, this one hurts. We’re sending love to Jenna, Channing, and Everly as they navigate through this difficult time. And we’re asking that NO ONE ELSE FUCKING BREAK UP OH MY GOD. It’s enough already.
