So just like, chill, you guys, it’s cool and funny and if you find this offensive, just go back to XoJane where they will apologize for thinking it’s funny an adult called a 9-year-old child a “cunt.”
XoVain has a ton of advertisers and it’s a shop-able website, meaning that you can purchase the items featured in the articles. I wonder how Redken or Banana Republic feels about their name being associated with the statement that “toddlers are effin’ hot”?
Maybe this is just me, and I’m humourless and old and I don’t get why this sort of flippant beauty “journalism” is cool, but the reality of child abuse is something I just don’t find laughable in any way. I don’t expect everyone to identify as a feminist, but I do expect people to speak out against the abuse of children and to do everything they can to put an end to it. It’s not cute, it’s not edgy, it’s not interesting or sexy. It’s an unspeakably horrific crime that we should all find unacceptable. And it should not be used to cause a “shitstorm” – which Jane Pratt is very fond of, to promote a beauty website.
You guys, we can all chill and stop being so reactionary and like, relax because the brilliant author of this article has apologized in the comments section of the article on the XoVain website!
And that is what she said. Now, I could go off on this non-apology but I think it will let it speak for itself.
