Mommyish is open to freelance submissions including how-to service pieces, personal essays, lists and reported pieces centered around raising kids, relationships, sex, humor, and lifestyle trends. Looking for voices from a wide variety of backgrounds, families, and POVs (humor and satire are a favorite for our audience so don’t be afraid to go there).
Want to write for Mommyish? Here’s what do to:
Pitches should be 1-3 paragraphs with your article headline and the direction your piece will go, including your stance or POV. If you’re pitching a list, please include 2-3 of your list headers to give an idea of how it will go and an approx word count. We also accept full drafts, especially welcome for personal essays so we have a good idea if it will be a fit for our audience.
Please also include 2-3 clips when pitching if you have them, though it’s not a requirement that you have been previously published.
Interested? Send pitches to the managing editor at firstname.lastname@example.org and please include PITCH: in your subject line. Please allow up to 2 weeks before hearing back — thank you!
