Girl Gets Booted From Prom For Leaving Foo Foo Dress At Home
A female student at a North Carolina high school was booted out of prom last weekend – for wearing pants. Shafer Rupard wore a pair of red skinny jeans to prom, and a teacher was not happy about it. As soon as she spotted Rupard on the dance floor she approached her and asked her to leave. Ridiculous.“In a way it’s kind of a slap in the face,” said Shafer Rupard, a senior at the high school.
“The teacher tapped me on the shoulder and said she had a problem with what I was wearing,” said Rupard. “I thought it was because of the hat or the leather jacket and I was like well I’ll take those off and she was like no, it’s the pants.”
It’s not like she showed up in ripped, tattered, dirty jeans. Her outfit is actually really cool. She looks great, she’s just not in the usual fluffy female prom-fodder. Her mom thought she looked just fine, “It’s just the way she’s always been and she wanted to feel comfortable in her own skin.”
So, she gets thrown out of prom for wearing red pants. Do people like this teacher even think for a minute before they act? She was so offended by the jeans that she had to ruin a teenager’s prom? That is absurd.
Hi teachers and school administrators – It’s 2014! Girls don’t have to wear fluffy prom dresses if they don’t want to. This girl has a bad-ass style and obviously dressed up for the occasion. I’m not sure if the teacher was offended that she wasn’t wearing “traditionally feminine” attire, or if she just thought she was too dressed down, but the whole thing is just stupid. You get one prom. This girl’s was ruined by a teacher who had the nerve to stop her dancing with her friends and send her home because she didn’t like her pants. Dumb.
