Teacher Who Let Kids Have Sex In Classroom Gets An A+ In Being A Gross Creeper
When you contemplate all the ways a teacher can be a friend and mentor to their students, you probably don’t include things like texting them about buying condoms and letting them use an empty classroom closet to have sex. But that’s only because you’re a reasonable human being and also not this extremely screwed up Georgia middle school teacher.
According to Jezebel, Quinton Wright, a math teacher and coach at Champion Theme Middle School in Dekalb County, was fired and arrested for allegedly encouraging and coordinating sexual activity amongst his students. How was he doing this, exactly? Well, via text message of course.
Wright used text messages to communicate with his male students about sex, condoms, and whose turn it was to have sex in the classroom storage closet. He was outed after a student’s mom looked through her son’s phone and found the messages from Wright.
”He told my son you can have it [the storage closet] from 7:30 to like 8:30,” the mother said reading some of the messages. ”’Did you tell the girl what’s going to happen? That she cannot tell anybody?’ basically don’t tell anyone I’m allowing you to use my room.”
The mom says Wright also texted her son a calendar of other teachers’ work schedules and warned he didn’t have any condoms for the kid to use. I mean, he’s already providing a whole storage closet. What more do you want from the guy?
According to the mom who got Wright busted, this isn’t the first time he’s been a total creep. When the eighth graders had their prom, she says the teacher asked if he could come over before the dance and take photos with her son and his friends. I’m not sure why eighth graders need a prom, but I do know it’s pretty damn wrong for a 25-year-old teacher to try to be bros with his 14-year-old students.
It’s hard to tell what exactly was motivating Wright here. Was he really trying to get in with the ‘in crowd’ and be the cool guy to a bunch of sexually active middle schoolers? Did he have some disgusting voyeuristic pedophilia thing going on? What compels an adult person to turn classroom storage into a secret sex shed for children who aren’t even old enough to legally consent to sex?
Whatever the reason, his actions are deplorable and unsettling. Parents put their trust in this guy and he used his authority to build inappropriate relationships with students, grossly overstep his boundaries, and manipulate them into keeping it a secret. He may not fit the legal description of a sex offender, but what he did is definitely disturbing and deviant. Wright has been charged with four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. What he really needs is to never set foot in a school ever again.
