Gun Lovin' Morons Support This Baby's Right To Bear Arms

A picture of a six-month-old baby girl holding a rifle in a gun shop is causing quite a stir on social media, as you can imagine. The photo was taken by her father at Woodbridge Firearms Trading Post in Connecticut.

Her father says it’s just a picture. He explains to WTNH:

The little one actually latched on to it when I picked it up to see how heavy it was – It’s actually very light – to test the weight, so I decided to take the picture… My hand was on it, the bolt was on it – it was safety checked. She’s clearly in her seat, sitting up – one hand on the scope, one hand on the barrel.

Many people have responded with confusion and outrage – wondering how on earth a parent would feel comfortable posing their child like this. That’s expected. What’s also expected, is the immense over-reaction of gun lovers on the shop’s Facebook page who cannot believe why people would be uncomfortable with such an image:

Yup. Totally makes sense to teach a six-month-old self defense via rifle.

Be LOGICAL people! A person has to pull the trigger and this six-month-old’s little, tiny baby fingers can’t do that!

Stupid idiots keep living in fear while the rest of us who aren’t SHEEP hand our infants rifles.

Nothing happened to the infant, the gun wasn’t loaded – whatever. Obviously I am uncomfortable with this image because I hate guns. But for people who love guns, the “more babies holding guns!!” argument is just as outrageous. Has it really gotten to the point where we can’t acknowledge that an infant holding a rifle is not a good look?
