This recipe is an entry in our Cheatsgiving Easy Recipe Contest. It comes to us from reader Sara D. Voting begins 11/21!
In a household where my mom did 99.9% of the cooking, this was my stepdad’s only signature recipe. And it was only made on Thanksgiving (by my Mom, of course). This was always my favorite Thanksgiving veggie dish though, and I didn’t find out until years later when I was hosting my first Thanksgiving that it was my stepdad’s recipe. But man, when I was a vegetarian (for 10 years), I LIVED for this stuff at Thanksgiving. Seriously, it’s easy and so damn tasty.
Incidentally, when I hosted my first Thanksgiving (in Canada), all of my friends found the idea of Cheez Whiz broccoli repulsive, but they came around eventually.   was given a number of suggestions beforehand to “class it up” (with real broccoli, bechamel sauce, bread crumbs), but I am a firm believer in the original.
Ingredients:
1 bag frozen broccoli (or broccoli florets, if you’re fancy)
1 small jar of Cheez Whiz
1/2 sleeve Ritz crackers
4 tbs melted butter (or margarine)
*amounts are approximate because honestly it’s just cheese product and frozen broccoli*
Directions:
1. Steam the broccoli
2. Move the broccoli to a 9 x 9ish pan
3. Sir in the Cheez Whiz
4. Crumble the Ritz crackers on top
5. Drizzle the melted butter on top
6. Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes
7. Profit
