Florida Lawmaker Says Common Core Standards Will Make Your Kids All Kinds Of Gay

Rep Charles Can ZantIf you’re missing your daily dose of cray cray, I’ve got just the thing for you. Video of Florida State Representative Charles Van Zant making some, um, questionable statements about the Common Core Standards went viral this week, and it’s not surprising. Apparently Van Zant feels that the Common Core Standards are a conspiracy to make America’s children super, super gay. Because that totally makes sense.

Van Zant made these comments at an education conference in Orlando back in March, but for some reason the video is just starting to make the rounds, and I think that’s a shame. We could have been laughing at this whack job for two whole months! At the conference, Van Zant told the audient that the American Institutes for Research, who implement Common Core in the state of Florida, will “promote double-mindedness in state education and attract every one of your children to become as homosexual as they possibly can.”

What?

I seriously had to quadruple check my sources here, because I was positive this was hilariously done satire, but alas, this is as real as real can be. Van Zant continues his tirade by saying:

”Please go on their website, click the link to what they’re doing with youth and you will see what their agenda really is. They are promoting as hard as they can any youth that is interested in the LGBT agenda…I’m sorry to report that to you, but you need to know.”

This is almost as bad as America’s favorite blow hard Glenn Beck, who also hates the Common Core, equating it to slavery and calling it evil. But at least Glenn Beck is just a T.V. personality and not a lawmaker who was VOTED into office by actual Americans. Who supports these morons, seriously? I don’t even understand the thought process here. I mean, I’m not a big fan of the Common Core either, but the mental gymnastics involved in going from “Common Core = bad” to “Common Core = Will make you want to be mega gay” is mind-boggling.
