Gwyneth Paltrow and Christian Louboutin Launched a Line of Red-Soled Baby Shoes

Gwyneth Paltrow and Christian Louboutin are teaming up launch a line of expensive, red-bottomed shoes. For babies.

According to Christian Louboutin, the new shoes by Louboutin are part of a Goop collection for Christmas. They’re called Loubibaby, and they’re very traditional, girly baby shoes, but with Louboutin’s signature bloody red soles.

They’re certainly cute, but at $250 per pair they seem extremely silly. A baby grows so quickly that nothing they own will fit for more than three months in the first year. And babies don’t even really wear shoes. Until they’re walking, bare feet or socks are best for their feet. Once a baby can use its hands, these shoes will never be on their feet.

Get ready to say, “Where’s your shoe!?”

Every parent knows the bewildering feeling of looking down and seeing that one’s child is wearing one shoe. They were wearing two shoes last time you looked, and now one is gone forever. (The baby invariably thinks this is the funniest thing that has ever happened, too.)

That seems to be a universal experience. Every time I stopped short in the street and said, “Where’s your shoe!?” some slightly older person in the vicinity would inevitably start cracking up. (Especially if the baby tosses her hands above her head like, “I dunno!”)

I long ago lost track of how many times I traced my steps for hours trying to find the shoe my baby had tossed out of the stroller.

They’d be cute for photos, though. And a baby would certainly show off those red bottoms by waving their feet upwards for the camera.

In a statement about the collection, which does include shoes for grown-ups too, Paltrow said: “It was an honor to work with Christian and his team to design the quintessential collection of fall classics: true investment pieces that us””and eventually our daughters and nieces””will wear for years.”

They probably won’t wear these particular ones more than once or twice. Someone will almost certainly buy them, though.

The shoes go on sale on Goop on November 16. They come in pink, blue, and gold, and cost $250.
