Channing Tatum Performs ‘Let It Go’ in Full Elsa Drag, Officially Winning the Love of a Whole New Generation

elsa-frozen-mineChanning Tatum is apparently beloved of women across the world. He’s never been my particular type, but he does seem like a nice guy. He’s always talking about how much he loves his wife and daughter, and whenever I see him on TV he seems to be pleasantly surprised and grateful for the massive amounts of fame and fortune that have landed in his lap. For that alone–and also the hot bod and amazing dance moves–he’s earned his place in the hearts of my generation, and now it looks like he’s cemented his fanbase for the next 30 years by living out every little kid’s dream and performing Let It Go live on TV in full Elsa drag.

Channing, who has a two-year-old daughter and is thus virtually guaranteed to have had the entire Frozen soundtrack stuck in his head since 2013, chose “Let It Go” for his entry on Lip Sync Battle and it appears to be every bit as amazing as one would expect.

In true Channing Tatum style, he doesn’t shy away or half-ass his performance, either. He got himself a full Elsa costume with wig, cape and all. He twirls. He kicks. He has a giant castle behind him and a whole corps of backup dancers dressed as snowflakes. Somehow nobody slips on fake snow and dies. It’s amazing. He commits so fully I wonder if he starts the number in Elsa’s coronation robes and manages a quick-change into her fancypants glittery Snow Queen outfit.

Lip Sync Battle is a bizarre Spike Network TV show in which extremely famous people put on over-the-top, elaborate lip sync performances against each other. It looks like a lot of fun, and this episode will probably be a little bit crazy because Tatum’s competition in this episode will be his wife, Jenna Dewan Tatum. Considering that both Tatums were professional dancers before they became actors, it should be pretty great. If their daughter Everly is judging, however, I’m pretty sure this one is an easy win for Channing Tatum. I mean, he dressed up as Elsa! He’d better get to keep the costume.

Channing will also be performing Run the World (Girls) by Beyonce, with Beyonce herself coming on as backup. I mean, it’s not quite Elsa, but it’s pretty impressive.
