Alec Baldwin’s Daughter Ireland Speaks Out About Infamous Voicemail, Doesn’t Make Me Like Him

Alec BaldwinI know that the world loves Alex Baldwin. He’s awesome on 30 Rock and he seems to be good friends with Tina Fey. We’re all so in love with her that we like to trust her opinion on things. So we just kind of accept that Alec Baldwin is a nice, cool guy that loses his temper every once in a while. Or at least, most of us do.

I kind of hate Alec Baldwin, and it all stems from the infamous voicemail where he calls his daughter a “rude, thoughtless, little pig.” Yup, we’re going there.

Baldwin and Kim Bassinger‘s daughter, Ireland, has finally spoken out about her dad’s legendary phone call. And while I think she was trying to excuse her father’s behavior, her comments about the incident only make me dislike Baldwin more. The 16-year-old told Page Six Magazine,

”The only problem with that voice mail was that people made it out to be a way bigger deal than it was. He’s said stuff like that before just because he’s frustrated.”

So you’re saying that your dad has called you awful things more than once because he can’t control his temper? This is supposed to make me understand and excuse my previous distaste for a grown man who shouts horrible things at his child…

Listen, plenty of parents lose their temper. I can admit that I have raised my voice with my daughter. And I feel horrible afterwards. I can agree that it was crappy this voicemail was ever released to the public. No, just because the parents are famous, we should not be privy to their private conversations with their children. I really wish that I could unhear that message, because I’m missing out on a great show with my aversion to supporting things Alec Baldwin works on.

All of that being said, Ireland admitting that her dad has “said stuff like that before,” makes me think that this wasn’t a one-time explosion. It wasn’t a momentary lapse of judgment. Combine that with Baldwin’s frequent issues with paparazzi and airline attendance, I think it builds a pretty strong case that this man just can’t control his anger at all.

Sure, he gets frustrated. The whole world gets frustrated. We are all human beings and we have to learn how to behave in society and in life whether we’re in a great mood or not. We don’t get to scream and curse at people, especially children, because we never learned anger management.

The sad part of this situation isn’t that I’ll forever dislike Alec Baldwin. It’s that his daughter still has to answer questions bout her dad’s bad behavior five years after the fact.
