Adam Levine Lets His Ignorant Flag Fly, Says Honey Boo Boo Is Treated In ‘Most Despicable Way’ By Parents
Adam Levine, the frontman for Maroon 5 who likes to think that he moves like Jagger, has some harsh and narrow-minded criticism for the parents of Honey Boo Boo. Some excellent interviewer over at GQ asked the judge of The Voice what was scarier: Waking up and not being famous or waking up as one of Honey Boo Boo’s parents? Levine’s response wasn’t just hostile. He went into almost apoplectic shock trying to describe just how much he hates Alana Thomspon‘s family.
”Just because so many people watch the show doesn’t mean it’s good. So many people witness atrocities and can’t take their eyes away from them, but that doesn’t mean they’re good. That show is literally The. Worst. Thing. That’s. Ever. Happened.
It’s complete f*cking ignorance and the most despicable way to treat your kids. F*ck those people. You can put that in the magazine: F*ck those idiots. They’re just the worst. Sorry, I’m so sensitive to that””like, I don’t know, man, it’s upsetting.”
Adam Levine is sensitive. And he’s upset. And apparently, he’s ignorant to the real horrible things that befall children in our own country every day. That’s the only explanation for him charging that Honey Boo Boo is treated in “the most despicable way.”
Listen, I’m not a huge Honey Boo Boo fan. I don’t particularly like child beauty pageants. That being said, Mama June and her husband seem to be pretty loving parents. For all of their eccentricities and “redneck” boasting, they seem dedicated to their kids. Mrs. Thompson has spoken thoughtfully on saving the money her family is making to help put her kids through college.
Sure, they have no problem with flatulence on camera. They buy random farm animals. They coupon a lot. They might even have some serious nutrition issues. But that does not make this family the downfall of society. It doesn’t make them even close to the most despicable parents I’ve ever heard of.
What about the mom and boyfriend who ran off to Universal Studios after leaving her abused son in the hospital? There’s a mother in my home town who allowed her boyfriend to torture and abuse her children, including throwing them in a cage with a pet snake to terrify them. Let’s not forget the pediatrician who waterboarded his own daughter.
Someone should explain to Adam Levine, there are child abusers, molesters and rapists out there who are fully deserving of our scorn and vitriol. Pretending that a reality TV family is the very worst example of parenting is pretty callous. In fact, some might even call it complete fucking ignorance.
