Babysitter Blames Black Guy Next Door For Robbery And 4-Year-Old Saves The Day
A 17-year-old babysitter in Washington State called 911 to report a burglary where she was watching two young children. She described the suspects as two black males, dressed in dark clothing, both 20 to 30 years old and very tall. She also stated that one had a knife and the other appeared to have a firearm which she saw partially protruding from one of the backpacks. Because the 911 call described the suspects as being armed, numerous deputies, SWAT team members, and even a Customs and Border Protection Helicopter showed up to apprehend the suspects.
The babysitter told police that the home’s neighbor, 25-year-old Cody Oakes, fit the suspects’ description. Oakes was led out of his home as a sniper watched nearby and handcuffed. All this went down and when Abby, a four-year-old under the care of the babysitter, spoke up to detectives. From Q13fox.com:
Abby told investigators the suspects had white skin, not black, and that’s when the babysitter’s story started to crumble ”” and she confessed.
Abby’s mother said she is proud of her young daughter.
”Literally in 30 seconds, she changed everything that had been going on for five, six hours,” her mother said.
As for the stolen belongings, Abbys said ”they got it back because of me being the superhero.”
In addition to the suspects not being some random, armed black dudes, one of the white males apprehended was the babysitter’s 16-year-old boyfriend, and they also found a list of items the babysitter wanted stolen, including Abby’s piggy bank and video game systems:

This story makes me so happy my kids are at the age where I can make my teenager watch his younger siblings, because I know the worst thing he will do is leave a mess in the kitchen. I can’t imagine trusting the care of your kids to some teenager who would rob you and make up a story about black men being the culprits and take your own kids piggy bank. I’m so glad Abby solved this crime. We always see kids being made famous on YouTube for doing basically nothing, but I would love to see Abby star in her own TV show where she helps other little kids solve crimes!
