The latest edition of Bachelor in Paradise has been full of drama — and the show is still in the filming phase! The latest furor isn’t scandalous like the rumors swirling around Corinne and DeMario, but they are still upsetting enough that cast member Amanda Stanton has decided to speak out. Girlfriend has had ENOUGH of the mommy shaming.

The twenty-seven-year-old mom of two was part of the cast who was flown home when production on the current season of Bachelor in Paradise was shut down. When her fans realized she’d been taking part in her third season of Bachelor in Paradise, they let her have it on her Instagram feed:

“I love u as a mother but when I heard you were going back to paradise I was disappointed!! I hope those rumors weren’t true. Focus on your girls and find love out of the bachelor world. Don’t settle for less @amanda_stantonn

“Amanda, I’m a single mom as well. I know I put my child ahead of any man and would rather spend time with her than leaving her for weeks at a time for a stranger and for millions of strangers to watch on national TV. Your children are going to grow up and see how you would leave them not once, or twice, but three times for TV. That’s not healthy for them, or for you for that matter. As a single mom, I urge you to rethink your choices and actually think about your girls instead of focusing on followers and TV. I used to admire you when you were on Ben’s season because you’d cry about how you missed them. Now you go on national tv, introducing your children to random men you practically just met. You need to rethink your actions and focus on how this affects your children.”

“Your ugly and your kids prob hate you :-)”

Aw, but that last one added a smiley face so that makes it all better, right?

Stanton turned off comments on several of her photos (and who could blame her), and took to her Instagram Story feed to defend herself in a video.

“I don’t normally like to address the trolls/mom shamers… but it’s so out of control! I’d like to take a moment to clarify first of all that my kids DO have a father that is part of their life. They spend time with him, too. So if you see a photo of me without my kids one weekend and comment something like ‘mother of the year’ or ‘wow shouldn’t she be with her kids?’ Well, there’s a VERY good chance that I can’t be with them because they’re with their dad. As far as Bachelor in Paradise goes, it doesn’t film for very long at ALL. I know it airs for 2 months… but it actually takes a lot less than that to film it. And all the other days, weeks, months of the year, I am with

[my kids]

! I understand that most parents don’t go on reality TV shows… but everyone’s lives are different… My kids are my entire world. I am doing my best to give them a great life.”

As Stanton reminds us, we only see a tiny sliver of her life, and we have no idea what goes on “behind the scenes.” Even though it’s not the most conventional career, being a reality star is how Stanton provides for her family. I’m sure she hates being away from her kids, but she has every right to live her life the way she feels is best. Judging by the adorable pictures of her girls, they don’t look like they’re suffering at all.

And I’m SURE that these concerned commenters would all leave similar messages on the Instagram feeds of any male BIP cast members with kids, right? RIGHT? Yeah, that’s what I thought.
