The New ‘Gone Girl’ Trailer Is Here And It Contains Two Cool Little Secrets

Gone Girl Trailer Easter Eggs Oh dear oh dear oh dear oh dear it’s finally here! The first trailer for the much-much-muchly anticipated Gone Girl movie directed by David Fincher and starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike and produced by Reese Witherspoon and for some inexplicable reason also starting Neil Patrick Harris. Even more disturbing than that the fact is for some reason Tyler Perry is in the movie. The movie opens October 3 so we have more than enough time to pick a theater and coordinate our outfits and save up all of our popcorn money so we can all go together, yes?  I’m the biggest Gillian Flynn fan, y’all don’t even know, and I was reading her back before anyone else (I can never say this about bands, only about authors, which shows what a nerd I am )  was when she wrote Sharp Objects and I forced everyone I know to read it and I devoured Gone Girl in about one day. I can remember carrying my Kindle around with me all over the house and practically walking into walls because I just couldn’t put it down.

Because I’m a total nerd, I discovered two kinda cool things in the video and I don’t think anyone else has yet because I scoured the inter-webs and I couldn’t find it mentioned, so you heard it from me first: If you call the number shown on the billboard (1-855-4-AMY-TIPS) you can listen to the first chapter of the book. Also, if you go to the website Find Amazing Amy you get a faux Fox News page for the fictional search for Amy Dunne.

I’m sure there are more little secrets out there, which is totally fitting because the book is such a mystery with a major plot twist and all of those things that made so many of us unable to put it down. Also, some of you may recognize Richard Butler from The Psychedelic Furs performing She by Charles Aznavour, also made famous by Elvis Costello in the movie soundtrack for Notting Hill.

October 3 cannot come soon enough.

OMG, I am so planning my outfit already to see this movie as I too walked around almost hitting walls while I read it in one day. :-) I have actually read it 3 times now. VERY exciteddddd!!!!!!!!!

      • Valerie

I’ve read Sharp Objects. I have Dark Places but have not read it yet. Was saving it for summer. :-)

      • DadandBuried

Sharp Objects is better than Dark Places.

    • The Real Kelly

      Plotttttttttttttttttttttt twiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiist!

        Eve, #HDY!

we can’t do this on October 3. You’re German! And that’s the German Unity Day

(LOL no really, that’s a real thing)

Oh thank heavens, I have trying, unsuccessfully, to get everyone I know to read this book, and no one will ( except my mom who hated it) so I have had no one to talk to about it. MY PEOPLE!

      • Valerie

ME TOO! I have gotten a handful to read it and most people liked it but none as much as me!

      • Megan Zander

Whenever my husband pisses me off ( like 5 minutes ago when he said he won’t go to the movie with me) I tell him ” I will AMY you!” He has no idea what I’m talking about, but it makes me happy. It is one of my all time favorite books, like desert island necessary.

      • Valerie

That is hilarious. I think the thing that fascinates me most about the book is Amy’s discipline and how she thinks so far in advance with everything. She is obviously not mentally stable but I have to admire her organizational skills. She inspires me on some sick level. Lol.

      • Megan Zander

Me too! My first thoughts when I finished it were a mixture of ” I want to be friends with her” and ” I bet I could pull this off”. This maaaaaay mean I am just a teeny bit sociopathic, but I can live with that.

      • Valerie

I don’t think I could pull it off- I’m just not that disciplined. Lol. But it captivated me nonetheless!

      • Valerie

And yes, def one of my all-time favorites too.

    • candyvines

Yay! Just read this about a month ago and couldn’t put it down. Those are neat Easter Eggs, I love when movies promote like that. Does anybody remember the Why So Serious website they put up about a year before The Dark Knight? That was one of the coolest I’ve ever seen.

    • val97

So excited! Also, Dark Places comes out in September, but it’s not getting nearly as much attention. Charlize Theron playing Libby Day threw me for a loop.

      • Valerie

Yes, she seems too old. From what I ready about the book on Amazon it sounds like Libby should be late 20′s. Isn’t Charlize 40ish?

      • val97

Yes, and she’s short. Like, so short that she sometimes gets mistaken for a child.

    • Marianna

Eve have you heard they’re changing the ending for the movie?

      • Robotic Socks

Are they changing it to Gone Girl Wild?

      • http://Mommyish.com/ Eve Vawter

YES! But I have faith it will still be good. It has to be right?

      • Marianna

I has to be, but I’m still afraid they’ll butcher it.

    • Robotic Socks

Demmitohell! I clicked on the link Eve provided! Dow Jones is down 15pts! :(

      Thanks Foxnews!!1!

    • Spongeworthy

I am so excited for this!!! I’ll be very interested to see how Neil Patrick Harris plays Desi. Amy was a sociopath, but Desi was a total creepy creepster.

      Can’t wait!

I am putting Gone Girl on the top of my reading list. That is SUCH a good trailer though – so creepy, sad and doesn’t give anything away.

    • rrlo

Also, reading through your comments made me realize I can’t read through your comments because you people are giving away plot secrets!!!

    • JenniCody

I must be in the minority, but I didn’t think it was that good of a book. About halfway through the first part i figured out the “plot twist” and I found the side characters much more interesting than the main characters. I also felt that the ending was a bit weak and seemed rather halfhearted.
Hopefully they will do a good job on the movie, as I think it might be (to me anyway) a story that it better when presented on film rather than on paper. And, if they do change the ending I might actually be interested in going to see the film.
