Mom Arrested For Super Lame April Fool’s Prank

Screen Shot 2014-04-03 at 6.44.35 AMI have no issue with April Fool’s Day. I like harmless pranks especially if it involves me waking up my kids early so I can see them eat cereal that turns the milk a different color. That stuff to me is totally harmless. And it usually only happens once a year. But this dumb mom in South Carolina pulled a prank that any normal adult should no better to do, when she told her daughter who lives out of state that a gunman was loose at Virginia College, where she is an employee.

According to the report in the NY Daily News, Angela Timmons texted her daughter April that a shooter was on campus. She claimed that she heard gunfire and that she was hiding. Her daughter panicked, and of course she would, because this is her mother and so many of us care about things like school shootings, in light of horrible things that happened at Sandy Hook and Columbine and many other schools, and when her mom didn’t respond to her texts she called 911. But the police found that nothing was wrong at Virginia College. And Timmons soon admitted to her daughter that it was just an April Fool’s Joke. Timmons was charged with one count of aggravated breach of peace, one count of disturbing a school and two counts of unlawful use of a telephone. Her bond was set at 18 thousand dollars.

I think this is pretty much the worst April Fool’s “joke” I have ever heard of. Hopefully she won’t be pulling any more of them.

What a dumbass. Honestly, there is nothing else to say. She is a fucking dumbass.

    • Eve Vawter

That was my original headline. Hey Val can you email me at eveevevawterATgmaildotcom?

    • Valerie

      But of course!

    • Robotic Socks

Just sent to you some pictures. Don’t open it in front of your children though

    • Valerie

I sent her pics too. Bet she likes mine better.

  • Katherine Handcock

Can we all just agree that there are certain things you never prank with, and being in immediate mortal peril is one of them?

  • Ursi

I think the punishment fits the crime.

  • Lesego Leon Monnakgotla

To be honest I have never liked April foo, when can die of these stupid jokes.

  • Véronique Houde

    what a fucking idiot.

    • Mystik Spiral

Haha I commented before i read yours. Same comment word for word… :)

  • Aimee Ogden

Nothing funnier than making your children think you’re probably dead and wasting police resources to boot! HILARIOUS!

I don’t mind the room-filled-with-balloons, “Hey did you hear Firefly is un-cancelled” sorts of pranks, but maybe the people who can’t tell the difference between dumb/silly pranks and horrifying/cruel pranks should just play it safe by not doing pranks at all??

    • DeanaCal

Giving me false hopes regarding Firefly would be one of the most cruel and inhumane pranks ever!

  • Jen Hassenpflug

Ok so this is was a bad prank, totally disagree with it. But I never knew someone could be charged with ” unlawful use of a telephone”. If someone were to hit someone over the head with a telephone, would they be charged with assault? or unlawful use of a telephone ? is it a misdemeanor or a felony? hehe :)

    • itpainsme2say

I think its for like bullying, blackmail, and of corse threats done over the phone. Now that I think about it there are a lot of ways to commit crime over the phone.

    • Michael

How about “filing a false police report”?

The time that the police officers wasted going to the college just might have been better spent capturing a burglar or saving someone’s life.

    • itpainsme2say

No I was listing other crimes that a charge of “unlawful use of a telephone” could be applied because it seemed a little specific but it turns out there are quite a few. Jen’s question was misdemeanor or felony and I was saying both depending on the other crimes committed

  • pixie

    Um, yeah. No. Not cool.

When did April Fools go from, “let’s be a minor douche in a creative, amusing way that isn’t harmful and everyone can laugh about it in the end” to just “let’s be a douche and fuck what other people think as long as it’s funny for me”?

Or maybe I expect too much from people when my own self-philosophy is “don’t be a douche”.

    • Valerie

      You should trademark that shit.

    • pixie

      I totally should!

  • lpag

Totally OT, but can you say RAGE HEADACHE:

If it wasn’t already April 3rd, I’d have this was and April Fools prank…Can somebody do a writeup today?

    • JLH1986

HOLY SHIT! RUFKM? Ugh. rage headache.

    • JAN

OMFG! I can’t even speak! I just had a baby in December and yes, my husband thought it was important enough to save his vacation all year so he could be there for us. I mean, I could semi-understand if it was the case that father was a brain surgeon and was the only one who could perform life saving surgery on a patient, but he effing plays baseball for a living.

    • practicallyperfectineveryway

Oh my goodness. The quotes are even worse than I thought. “What is he going to sit there and hold his wife’s hand for two days?” and about hiring someone else so he basically doesn’t have to meet his baby. What dicks.

  • brebay

What a twisted bitch. Bet she was a fun mom to grow up with…Hope they fire her stupid ass.

  • allisonjayne

Ugh that is horrible. Ok I thought I hated the ones where people get excited about something that turns out to be fake…nope, these ones are worse.

  • Mystik Spiral

    What a fucking idiot.

  • Bethany Ramos

This lady needs to get her shit together!!! All I did for April Fools was turn the “Y” into an “S” on my husband’s Yemen coffee roast, not try to ruin his psyche.

    • Valerie

      Mmmm. Semen coffee.

    • Bethany Ramos

Hhaha I was very proud of this :)

    • Kay_Sue

      You should be.

One of my FB ‘friends’ pretended to be fatally ill for an April Fool’s joke. She really did. :( How sad and sick is that?. And there were possibly seriously ill people reading her post. And some moron even responded ‘Good one.’ ???

  • Kay_Sue

Our local news posted this story, and people were DEFENDING her.

And that sentence, my friends, completely explains the time my head exploded.

Look, we can all agree this was fucking dumb but…what’s up with homegirl who wrote this article man?

“But this dumb mom in South Carolina pulled a prank that any normal adult should no better to do”

Ummm, huh? No better? Man…editors…where are they?

    • Daniel Hunt

Give them a break. They still have 3 years of high school left.

  • Joe Average-Mann

Non-working, welfare-4-life, shameless, ignorant, black-loving baby-hatchery, criminal-breeding, single-moms and their stupid kids will be the downfall of the U.S.

    • Fredrick Eddy

didnt the story say she worked at virginia college? how is that welfare?

  • Daniel Hunt

I rarely see this many grammatical and spelling and contextual errors in one news story. When does the writer graduate from high school?

  • Joe Average-Mann

Women are stupid, for the most part, and don’t understand humor. You can count, on one hand, the number of women who are actually funny.
