Back in the day of every single teen movie ever the parents would go out of town, the kid would call up all their friends, randoms would show up with beer, someone would jump in the pool with all their clothing on, lamps would be broken, and the next day the teens who lived in the house would promptly clean it all up in a hurry before mom and dad got home, usually set to a song by Loverboy or something,
I’ve seen this movie and I have lived this movie, because when I was a teen I attended many a party where the parents were out of town. I think most of us have. But these parents in Connecticut did something that we never expected our own parents to do if they ever found us partying while they were out of town, they called the pooooooo-lice. From CTnow.com:
Two Glastonbury High School students were arrested after their parents came home early from a weekend trip and found a party going on at their house, police said.
The two girls, 15 and 16 years old, face charges of permitting a minor to possess alcohol. Their names were not released because of their ages, said Agent James Kennedy of the Glastonbury Police.
The girls hosted parties at the Neipsic Road house on Oct. 11 and 12, Kennedy said, attended by 15 to 20 people each night. Their parents were due to return on Monday, and the girls “tried to get another one going” on Sunday night, he said.
Good. Good for them. I tell my kids that if I ever leave them home alone I will do the exact same thing. It’s a whole different world when we were teens. The worst thing that would happen when we were kids is someone would spill something on a rug or throw up in the bushes. Now everything terrible happens at parties. Plus, if the parents sent home drunk kids and they had an accident the parents could be sued, and we have all heard stories like these.
It sorta sucks in a way, because I think teen parties when parents aren’t home are a sort of rite of passage, and they were FUN. I can remember going to many a party like that and having a beer or three and hanging out with my friends and listening to music and they were fun, and now it seems like teens are just animal monster people who rape and beat each other up and have guns and scary scary drugs and ugh, I know how old I sound. But I think these parents did the total right thing, unless this commenter on the news article:
Oh wah wah wah they should have thought of that before they had two parties and tried to throw another.
