Hilarious Mom Brenna Jennings Quit Her Job Too – And She’s A SAHM So Judgers Gotta Judge

Screen Shot 2013-10-02 at 8.21.55 AM__1380716581_74.134.205.46I assume you guys have seen this video of Marina Shifrin who quit her job in this super meta viral video set to Kanye West’s song Gone, but if not you can see it here. I only assume you had seen this video because my own young daughter saw me watching it and she said “Oh, I saw that on the news.”  Not to be outdone, hilarious mom Brenna Jennings would also like to quit her job as well, because as we all know, being a mom is a damn job. So she created her own video response.

It’s cute as hell and funny and all of us moms can relate. But you know who just CAN’T relate? Her YouTube commenters who are leaving her gems like these:

Thanks for all of your super helpful and insightful comments interwebs! I just love how Brenna is just being funny and giving her own video response to the viral video of Marina, and yeah, because she is a mom who ONLY works from home she gets all this lip about it. Oh wait, I forgot, moms must take their careers of raising their special snowflakes very seriously and they can never have a sense of humor about parenting. Where’s what I need? OH here it is.

I work from home with a toddler. I regularly quit cleaning the bathrooms and picking up toys, but I can’t dance so I won’t be making any videos… though judging by the crash and “Boom!” with a giggle behind me just now, I may go try.

  • Emme

    Don’t ever read YouTube comments.

    • LiteBrite

      I totally second this.

    • Toaster

I love the ‘herp derp’ plugin which turns all comments into the words ‘herp’ and ‘derp.’

Is it just me or does her house really not look all that bad? And I don’t think i’ve actually made my own bed since I was about 13, cos I don’t really see the point. I’m just gonna get into it and mess it up again.

    • Emmali Lucia

THANK YOU. That’s totally my thought process too.

    • AmazingE

I might straighten out the blanket once in awhile if i’m gonna fold laundry or something on it, but that’s pretty much it.

    • Emmali Lucia

I usually make the bed after I’ve washed the sheets, considering that I take a shower before bed and I don’t use the bed for anything other than sleeping it happens about once every two weeks. Watch the sanctipeople call me disgusting. Lol

Every 2 weeks? That’s Martha Stewart compared to how often I wash my sheets.

    • Sundaydrive00

Oh good, there are others out there like me. I’ll make my bed if people are coming over that might go into the bedroom. And by making it I mean the covers stay where they are and I just throw the comforter over everything. We have a foam pad on half the bed because my SO likes a soft mattress and I like a hard mattress and we’re too cheap to buy a sleep number bed. The comforter just helps to hide our Frankensteined bed.

Otherwise its a complete waste of time.

    • Rachel Sea

I make my bed because it’s the fastest way to make the room look tidy.

    • http://www.twitter.com/ohladyjayne allisonjayne

I’m the same. I hardly ever wash my sheets (seriously, i’m gross about that) but I do make the bed, because it makes the whole room feel instantly neater. Even if it’s totally not.

    • Blueathena623

No no no! Clean, really nice sheets are one of the best things in the world!

    • http://www.twitter.com/ohladyjayne allisonjayne

I know, I know….but I’m soooo fucking lazy and the washing machine in my apartment isn’t big enough to wash sheets so I have to go ALLLLLL the way to the basement and have I mentioned that I’m lazy?

    • AlexMMR

I never saw the point either. Sometimes I’ll toss the blanket up somewhere in the vicinity of the pillows so the cat hair ends up on top of the bed instead of in it. Sometimes.

Any space that is meant only for me (or my husband) only has to be cleaned to our standards. Neither of us care about a bed being made, no one else is going in our bedrooms, so who cares? And if anyone does bother to go in there to get all Judgy McJudgerson on us, they’re going to have a lot of things worth judging before they ever make it to the rumpled bed!

YES.My house looks like the house she desribed. Not the house she danced in, lol.

    • Blueathena623

I used to never make my bed, but my husband is anal about it. After 9 years with him, I’m anal about it too. It just makes the room look nice, even if everything else is messed up.
In terms of ease, go with sheets tucked in at the bottom (if you can stand it) and a duvet. Takes 15 seconds to make.

“if you don’t like to work, don’t”. Um…that’s an option? Can I make my body stop needing food too?

    • Ptownsteveschick

I’d like to stop having to go pee. It really interrupts my 5 hour long netflix marathons after my kid goes to bed.

Best. Blingee. Ever. And Youtube comments are fresh, fresh hell. Always.

  • BubbleyToes

Gah. I know a girl who is a super sancti-mommy and comments on all kinds of things on FB. I don’t even have facebook, but I stalk through a friend’s account every once in a while. If I ever decide to submit her on mommyish, where do I send these gems?

  • Blueathena623

OT, but I’m really not impressed by the way the first girl quit her job. Not cool.

    • Rachel

Yeah, not to sound pompous, but people who trash their bosses and quit on the open internet don’t strike me as the brightest, most long-term players out there.

    • Blueathena623

If you read the article written by the head of the company (and believe what he’s says, of course) it sounds like a pretty awesome job for a 25 year old. If I had no family and the skills, I would be applying.

Thanks for this piece, commenters everywhere on my video have been great, and some have been sour. I don’t mind that people trash me because I know that’s their “job”, but I have replied because I hope to jar them into realizing that they’re actually dealing with a real human being. I mean, my mom reads that stuff. – Brenna
