Like You, Halle Berry Thought She Was Just A Tad Too Old To Get Knocked Up

Halle Berry 2013 Vanity Fair Oscar Party at Sunset Tower - ArrivalsIn case you were under a rock the entire weekend, you know that 46-year-old Halle Berry is pregnant with her second child. But before everyone starts to roll their eyes over older IVF celebrity moms setting unrealistic fertility precedents  Halle claims that she wasn’t even vying for baby #2. Sometimes when you have a sexy French fiancé, I guess these things just happen.

In an interview with CNN, the soon-to-be mommy of two describes her second pregnancy at this late stage of the game as “the biggest surprise of my life.” Halle claims that she’s feeling “fantastic” so far in a pregnancy she never expected to happen:

“I thought I was kind of past the point where this could be a reality for me. So it’s been a big surprise and the most wonderful,” the actress said.

Halle did not confirm reports that she is having a boy. But she did get chatty about her baby bump in the name of charity (taking a page from Kate Middleton). The Oscar-winning actress offered up a few sound bites about her surprise pregnancy in the name of the United Nations World Food Programme to fight world hunger along side Michael Kors:

“Especially now, being a pregnant woman and already having a child … it’s so important what happens to the baby while they’re in utero. And the first 1,000 days is fundamental,” said Berry, who’s showing only a small baby bump.

With important plugs like that, I say keep the bump talk going.

Walp. If you’re having a period, you can get preggers.

Not if you take a bath in pepsi, or hop backwards 15 times at sunrise before the next full moon.

It’s a long story, but my mother got pregnant with my younger sister when she was 42 (and I was 20). There was a gap of 16 years between the previous youngest and the new little sister. After that, my mom and my step-dad decided that they wanted to give her a sibling her age, so tried for a year to get pregnant, although my mom’s caveat was that she didn’t want to give birth at 46. No baby, and they decided that was that, my step-dad would get the snip snip. His vasectomy got put off, because, as my mom explains it, “At that point you just think you can’t get pregnant.” Well, SUPRISE! Pregnant with my little brother. He was born 2 months after her 46th birthday, and for the record, I was 23. Moral of the story: don’t put off the vasectomy

She’ll be 50 in less than 4 years. Just saying.

What’s the problem? My dad was already 50 when he got me and I was the first child.

I know a lady who got pregnant at forty-eight. It’s not common, but some people just have a really long run of fertility.

Let’s face it more women who are in thier 20s and 30s are obese and have a whole set of problems related to obesity. Halle has already checked with a amnio and baby is fine. She has the money and time to have a healthy baby. P.S: Most women her age end up needing donor egg and the risk are very little
