Hey, it happens! Kate Hudson admits that back when she was the mother of only one child, Ryder, she was starting to go on “lovely dates” with her now fiancé Matt Bellamy of Muse. Approximately eight weeks after their “very old-fashioned” courtship, the new couple found themselves with child. Luckily though, the unexpected wrench in their relationship doesn’t seem to have been the end of the world. Quite the opposite actually.
Kate Hudson reportedly tells the May UK issue of Elle that when she got pregnant with Bingham a few years ago, she had her doubts about what a baby would mean for the green relationship:
“I knew it would take a strong man to deal with it. You know that with a relationship things can go either way when you have a child,” says the movie star. “When you get pregnant everything changes; you, your body. Everything becomes a big decision.”
Almost three years and a baby later, the couple is looking to tie the knot — but nobody is apparently picking out china patterns or dresses just yet. Kate tells the magazine that “it’s not the legal part that is important” to her in marrying Bingham’s father.
A fiancé, a baby, and enough economic autonomy to afford that kind of it’s-just-a-piece-of-paper privilege? Modern day fairy tale, I tell you.
