Lounging In A Castle Was Too Much Work, So Pregnant Kate Middleton Took A Babymoon To Relax

Kate Middleton babymoonIt’s such difficult work to be pregnant royalty. You have to go shopping for maternity clothes and eat lavender shortbread cookies. Poor pregnant Kate Middleton was just overwhelmed.

Thankfully, her hubby, Prince William, finished up his weekend shift at work and decided to take her on a nice little getaway to the exclusive island of Mustique. The couple’s babymoon hasn’t been confirmed by the palace, but royal watchers are pretty sure that the couple left Monday.

Sources also claim that everyone’s favorite baby-makers didn’t hit the beaches alone. They brought along Kate’s parents on the little vacation, though each couple has it’s own separate villas. No squeezing everyone into one condo with two queen-sized beds for these guys.

It should be noted that the inclusion of the in-laws on what’s normally considered to be the last bit of “couple time” before baby comes and keeps everyone up at night is a little out of the ordinary. Then again, most babymoons tend to happen in the third trimester, just a month or so before the little one is set to arrive.

It’s possible that the royal couple is just bucking all tradition, which would be highly uncharacteristic. Either that, or this isn’t the real babymoon. It’s like the pre-babymoon. Or this is just a vacation and months from now they’re going to jet off to another island I’ll never visit and that will be the actual babymoon. Since none of us can actually define what’s special about a babymoon and how it differs from a pregnant person on vacation, the classification is just very difficult.

Either way, what you need to know is that a baby still in utero will most likely get more tropical vacations this year than you will in the next decade. Must be nice to be the royal fetus.

    Yikes. Jealous much?

Really. I can’t imagine the stress that Kate’s been under. She has more on her plate than your average person, and does it all under intense public scrutiny. I don’t begrudge her a little time off to relax. I know I was exhausted in the “come straight home from work and go to bed for the night” way for the first 16 weeks of my pregnancy so it’s not crazy to think someone else might feel the same. Even if they are a royal.

      My thought, exactly. Sad.

Um, you know she has a really busy life, right, and is hounded by the press basically 24/7? Not to mention she’s been quite ill. She isn’t just “lounging around a castle”. If the couple can get some private relaxing time, then by all means they should.

I get the feeling that sarcasm and “snarky funny” on the internet (or in any print) just don’t translate well for everyone. Or most people. You might want to stay away from it, in general. This is a joke, right?

Ehh… you can’t make everyone happy. But yes, I was just being snarky for snarky’s sake. I don’t actually begrudge the woman a vacation.

Snarky doesn’t suit you, but if you have to get it out of your system, try picking a couple or woman that is actually selfish, entitled and bratty.

… it isn’t a “babymoon.” The Middleton family has gone on vacation to Mustique this week every year for at least the last six years as it falls during Carole Middleton’s birthday. Please stop trying to turn a yearly family vacation in to a huge dramatic mess.

If there’s one expectant mama the world should lay off of, it’s Kate Middleton. She’s already endured more than most of the rest of us have in our pregnancies, starting with the fact that none of us are under pressure to produce a country’s next leading figurehead, and very few of us have had every tabloid (and quite a few mainstream) news outlets transfixed on our abdomens starting 24 hours after we said “I do.” And if any of us feel constantly hounded by the Pregnancy Police for every little thing we do, imagine how frustrating it would be to have your choices scrutinized on a *global* scale?

In all fairness, Kate’s marriage wasn’t arranged or the result of convenient bloodlines, so she probably had a notion of what she was getting herself into (probably one reason it took the lovebirds so long to tie the knot). While there’s no way in Hades I’d want her life, she did at least choose it. What she did NOT choose, however, was to have her pregnancy revealed early due to being hospitalized by hyperemesis gravidarum, which is a serious condition I wouldn’t wish on anyone! Since her illness forced the couple to reveal the pregnancy so early, can you imagine how heartbreaking it would have been had it resulted in miscarriage? And worse, that the ENTIRE industrialized world would know about it? So no, after what she went through her first trimester, I don’t begrudge Kate some much-needed R&R or private time spent with her family. She doesn’t get much of either, so anything that Kate can do to rest, unwind, and take care of their growing prince or princess is a-ok with me!

This kind of nonsense is just uncalled for. Leave the woman alone.

I really enjoy reading Mommyish articles when they’re informative, but recent selection’s mostly been really unpleasant. I don’t see why an article like this is necessary. Please stop trying so hard to be funny.
