Uncovered Tweets May Reveal Yet Another Alleged Gang Rape Of Teen Girl In Steubenville

shutterstock_116506741The Ohio Attorney General’s Office is investigating a second rape case that allegedly took place in April of 2012, involving a 14-year-old girl in Steubenville. Now, I know the good residents of Steubenville have claimed that the other alleged gang rape case involving a 16-year-old victim is an isolated incident, and that the kids of Steubenville are good kids who don’t engage in underage drinking or sexual assault, but because of new information regarding this case, I think maybe the parents of Steubenville are pretty deluded when it comes to what their teenagers are doing. From WTOV9.com:

A spokesperson for Attorney General Mike DeWine said the allegation in the second report dates back to April 2012 and no one has been charged.

Neither the attorney general’s office nor Steubenville police are commenting on the details of the allegation, including if it involves teens or has any link to another case in which two 16-year-old Steubenville High School football players have been charged.

And this additional information from The Daily Mail:

Approached by MailOnline the family of this latest ‘victim’ declined to comment. Her step-father explained: ‘We’ve been advised by our lawyer not to say anything.’ He agreed that, ‘anything involving Big Red football players is hot right now,’ adding ‘that’s the problem.’

The girl is being advised by Bob Fitzsimmons, attorney for the 16-year-old girl at the centre of the Ohio rape case currently.

Her story appears to bear troubling similarities to the case currently scandalizing America in which the victim was allegedly raped while unconscious as others looked on, filmed and photographed events.

MailOnline has been told that the alleged incident took place at a Prom party at a Steubenville High School student’s home where alcohol was being consumed.

When questioned about a complaint ‘strikingly similar to the current rape case,’ Jefferson County Sheriff Fred Abdalla confirmed: ‘That particular case, the mother brought her daughter in to tell us about something that allegedly happened in the City of Steubenville. So we sent them to the City of Steubenville police.’

When pressed as to whether or not any paperwork existed relating to the case the Sheriff said: ‘We may have a report that she came in but we wouldn’t have started any investigation because it wasn’t our investigation to start.’

He said: ‘The last I heard the girl had recanted and said it was consensual.’

In fact mother and daughter went to the City Police Department and the girl, who was 14 at the time of the alleged incident, in early September. The girl went onto provide a video statement.

The city’s police chief William McCafferty said: ‘We handed this over to the Ohio Attorney General’s Bureau for Criminal Investigations (BCI).’

Nor is it known whether the details of this investigation will have any bearing on their February trial.

A Twitter use by the name of @Stormcat9 has uncovered a collection of tweets from the time that the alleged incident involving the 14-year-old took place. The software she used to look up the tweets doesn’t include timestamps, and due to the time it took her to compile the information, you will see some stamped with nine months and some with 10 months. If you were to look them all up at the same time they would all say the same number. Stormcat has forwarded all of this information, including Twitter screen names and other relevant information to the authorities investigating this case. I have deleted all Twitter handles and identifying images from the following tweets, even though they were all posted publicly. She has screenshots of tweets made by the alleged victim, but I have chosen not to include those due to the fact she is a minor. Stormcat did state that what she was able to ascertain from the messages posted from the victim and her peers is that :

The 14-year-old victim in this case planned to attend a party and she knew there would be boys and alcohol present. Things escalated out of hand very quickly. A tweet posted before the party stated that she was being dropped off at a friend’s house by her mother, who told her daughter “If you are going to tap it, wrap it.” After the incident, the girl expressed dismay on Twitter over what happened, and asked that people don’t judge her because it could have been them. At first, the alleged victim’s friends defended and stood up for her, but then turned their backs. A resulting hashtag includes the victim’s name and the phrase #TeamWeHate___ resulted. A few weeks later the alleged victim had “made up” with some of her friends.

I am 21 years old and I lived in Steubenville until just a few months ago although I went to the neighboring school district because of the awful things that go on in Steubenville. I agree with everything you have said with the exception of one thing. The majority of Steubenville is in support of Jane Doe it’s just that none of us want to steal attention from the real problem by going on television and talking about stuff we have no idea about. The people who do that are just as had as the rapists themselves and I need to know that everyone nation wide knows that Steubenville is NOT made up of Jill Watkins. I pray everyday for Jane Doe and hope that everyone who reads this will do he same. Those boys are guilty in my opinion, the football program is giving an already violently charged highschool larger egos an less accountability where crime is concerned . Something needs to change or these boys will believe they can get away with whatever they want. There are many men in this city who USED to be football players for Reno. They all think thy are going to be drafted after college, they get scholarships and being used to getting a free pass in school work they flunk out. They then come home they get violent this is why we have a shooting everyday in Steubenville. It’s time for a change. Football should be a privilege not an excuse.

“the football program is giving an already violently charged highschool larger egos an less accountability where crime is concerned ” probably true

Eve, this is great. Your coverage of the Steubenville case has been outstanding. But could I suggest that you also look in to sexual assault in the military? SO so many cases, equally horrible, that also need everyone’s attention- especially civilians. Because thats just the problem- the military doesn’t handle it and these women never see justice either. Just a thought since you’re clearly so passionate about the subject. And forgive me if you’ve already written about that and I just missed it.

At 14 years old if anything happened at all its still considered rape as she is under the age of consent. For crying out loud, have conversations with your kids that no means no, male or female, regardless of the situation.

      • Ordinaryperson

Don’t you think it should be yes means yes, not no means no? Saying nothing shouldn’t be read as implicit consent especially with younger people who might not be confident enough to assert themselves to get out of a situation. Kids should be taught to be certain their partners are comfortable… But then if the kids weren’t self-centred assholes, they wouldn’t need to be taught that in the first place

my heart is racing, I feel sick at my stomach and have such an overwhelming feeling of sadness, disgust, anger and disbelief. I’ve read the tweets from both theses rapes and there is NO DOUBT these girls have been violated! There’s NO DOUBT these boys feel like they are above the law! The Question is…..Are They? Why isn’t this all over the news????

    • Jones

Remember, this is probably the girl mentioned in the Nodi video when he says “remember that girl who got raped at Palooza? This is worse cause it’s a dead girl.” Once again, the friends of these boys seem to think it was rape, but the rest of us shouldn’t? Please!!! This girl needs justice.

I literally became nauseous after reading those tweets. This is absolutely sickening. I feel horrible for every woman and girl living in Steubenville.

Nausea definitely is what I felt, too.

Ugh. Just… ugh. “Can’t rape the willing”? How “willing” is she when she’s passed-out drunk?

How many more of these “alleged” rapes need to be uncovered before Steubenville wakes up to the fact that they have a homegrown pack of rapists?

They are talking about a different case than Jane Doe.

I have been following Jane Doe’s case but I have heard nothing more about this case beyond this site. Are there any updates or new ifo regarding this particular incident?

    • HealthyJimm

Kids in school call this group of football players “The Rape Crew”. Obviously this shit is not an isolated incident and EVERYONE knows what’s going on.
