Despite a lot of gum flapping about Jessica Simpson being pregnant, Weight Watchers is getting their money’s worth and rolling out these ads while they can. And this latest one is set to enter those TV screens right as mothers around the country are indulging in an extra slice of Christmas Day pie.
The 32-second ad, which is slated to run on December 25th, depicts a giddy Simpson championing her 50-lb weight loss — and that’s a direct quote:
â€śI didnâ€™t need to be perfect to get here, to lose over 50 pounds on Weight Watchers,â€ť Simpson says in the ad, clad in cowboy boots and driving a pickup truck. â€śI love food, I love life, and I had no idea I could be so in control and so free at the same time.â€ť
Are you snickering with that painfully scripted dialogue yet? Indeed, Simpson takes us back to her Texan roots with the rugged out doorsy theme (fun fact, this ad was filmed in Calfornia).
I have to hand it to them though, the timing on this is impeccable. Since Weight Watchers is looking to tap into the highly lucrative “post-baby body” market with Jessica as their spokesperson, it looks like the company picked precisely the right moment to woo new customers. Somewhere between that third helping of Christmas pudding and those New Year’s resolutions.
