Sigg has been described as a "brilliant student" with good grades. When he reached the 11th grade, he quit school and took his GED, although school officials are uncertain as to why. He has been studying at community college ever since. Seems as though he had a shining future ahead of him, academically speaking.

As it stands, the law reportedly prevents the district attorney from pursuing a death sentence. So that will be off the table for those calling for Sigg's life.

After his mother phoned the authorities and Sigg turned himself in, the teenager waived his rights and was described as cooperative in a police report. Maybe he's angling for some mercy?

The most unsettling detail for me is that Sigg was reportedly interested in forensic science and mortuary science. Not an insta-red flag to indicate child kidnappers, but a disturbing bit of information indeed given that human remains have been discovered at Sigg's home.

Prosecutors are at present aiming to try the teenager as an adult in court, which means no prissy sentencing in Sigg's future.

Sigg's 48-year-old daddy, Robert Sigg, has criminal charges dating all the way back to 1983. While his mother has no criminal record to speak of, Papa Sigg has been charged with a DUI, a federal conviction for bank fraud, selling and distributing drugs, assault and battery, "habitual" traffic offenses, domestic violence, and his female partner has filed multiple restraining orders against him.
The bad apple doesn't fall far from a woman beating tree, I guess.
