Kristin Cavallari Seems Kind Of Peeved That The Lachey Baby Stole Her Name

When it comes to baby names, reality star Kristin Cavallari does not believe imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.  Rather than offering up congratulations on new arrival Camden John Lachey to parents Nick Lachey (a former fling) and Vanessa Minillo, she’s irked.   Cavallari welcomed her own Camden – Camden Jack Cutler - five weeks ago with NFL quarterback Jay Cutler.  She took to Twitter with heavy sarcasm to defend her turf, er, son.

“Apparently Camden is a popular name!” she tweeted this morning as news broke of baby Lachey’s arrival.

Which we know isn’t true.  The name did not even break the Top 150 Most Popular Boys Names in 2011 (according to the Social Security Administration its current rank is #160).

Celebrities often find baby-naming to be a highly original and creative experience.  Just ask Sparrow, Blue, Apple or Bronx (note the hot trend: nouns over names).  If another celeb named their baby the moniker you had your heart set on a month before your due date, it would mean back to the drawing board.  Lachey and Minillo didn’t get the message and unfortunately Cavallari can’t do much about it now.

Like every other parent she probably wants to believe her child is special, and having another celebrity couple share her unique name choice is like rain on her sunny newborn parade. Wait until she realizes even the nickname CJ is out.

I wonder if Kristin Cavallari even shows up on the celebrity radar of Nick Lacey?

shhhh .. pssst…Lori…. who are these people? :(

They apparently dated back in the day, but I doubt she was thinking about her when Vanessa and him named the baby

weird how he dated her then chose the same name a few weeks apart tho lol

The real question is, does Nick Lachey show up on anyone’s celebrity radar? He is only famous because he was in a bad boy band and married Jessica Simpson. It wasn’t even ‘Nsync or BSB! I actually think Kristin is almost more relevant these days for the simple fact that she was on a popular tv show more recently. All of the stupid tabloids make absolute nobodies into celebrities. The real ones are private. You don’t see Meryl Streep in any of these silly stories.

You know when I wrote the comment, I kind of wondered if Nick Lachey shows up on anyone’s celebrity radar either!LOL Stay out of it, Nick Lachey!

      haha, agreed!

I really don’t see the sarcasm? I guess you could read it that way in order to give yourself something to write about. In fact, she followed it up later to state that it wasn’t intended to be read that way. Didn’t see that mentioned anywhere above.

Well if Cavallari stated that it wasn’t meant to be read that way…then obviously more than a few people read it that way…no?

Or someone wrote an article about it and it caught her attention.

Camden is a nice name, easy to spell and pronounce. Glad she didn’t try to yoonee’k it up by spelling it “Kamdynne” or something, as the trend seems to be these days.

Ya know, I was just voting for a friend’s kid on the Gerber Generation Photo Search on Facebook. It’s amazing, the ridiculous names people give their kids. Why do people curse their children with names like Ahlivia, Aubreigh, and Camrynn? Is Aubrey not a good enough spelling? Cameron could have done without the y. And don’t even get me started on Ahlivia…

When I thought it couldn’t get worse.. there came UriYah. Not even kidding.

I know someone who named their son Kamden since the first son’s name started with a K. Poor child.

I love this fighting over names. I don’t understand this in real life, much less celebrity life. People don’t own names. It’s such a strange thing, this names as real estate.

I don’t think she has the right to get so upset. It’s obvious she chose the name cause she thought it sounded cutesy. At least the Lachey’s had the sense not to give their kid a nickname for a middle name, which makes me think they picked it for a reason. So if anything I think it strengthens their claim on it if she’s going to play that game.

If it’s meant to be sarcasm, she is going to be really disappointed that other babies are also named Camden.

I hate when people hear your childs name and USE it..knowing for a fact they would not have chosen it otherwise if they hadnt known your babies name in the first place… a girl i knew did it to me.. she named her son my daughters name ONLY because she heard me name my daughter it first.. my daughters name is unique.. and i know she wouldnt have chosen it had she not heard it from me..

    • http://www.facebook.com/tamrochelle Tam Rochelle

and whats the fun in that? naming your baby when it isnt original? i would have preferred to use another name since i was taking it from someone else.. that makes it unoriginal.. so props for NOT being creative courtney.

    • maureen

Except the point of naming your kid is not to be as yoo-neek or kre8iv as possible; it’s to give the child a name that hopefully has some meaning, but if not, at least he kid won’t be embarrassed to put on his resume or introduce himself as. Unfortunately some parents don’t realize this and deliberately misspell or make up ridiculous names to be unique. Courtney could have been “creative” by making Camden a “Kamdynne” but kudos to her for common sense!
