Usually I’m the last person in the world who wants to watch a birthing scene on television (or in real life, for that matter). Yes, it’s a miraculous process – many would even call it beautiful – but that doesn’t mean I want to see it. In fact, I once walked out of a prenatal class because I refused to watch the 70s-style birthing scene playing out in front of me on one of those horrid “educational” videos. That said, I’d pay good money to see Kourtney Kardashian‘s water birth on national television.
A source tells HollywoodLife.com that Kourtney, who’s pregnant with her second child with Scott Disick, would like a water birth. “She has been taking pre-natal yoga classes and has been learning all about the benefits of having a home birth and water birth,” says the source (apparently a family friend). “With Mason, she didn’t know what to expect and felt more comfortable having a traditional birth. Now she feels a lot more confident and feels a natural water birth would be one of the most empowering and magical experiences in her life.”
The source goes on to say that Kourtney’s mom, the ever-so-classy Kris Jenner, thinks it would make for great TV and wants the entire birth to be filmed, then aired on the season finale of Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
Here’s the deal: The Kardashians are a bit like road kill – you don’t want to look but you just can’t help it. At the same time, the sisters are always done up so perfectly. Everything’s so scripted and, even during the more challenging times (divorce, infertility), they appear all calm and in control. That explains why I hope the rumors are true. As much as I wish Kourtney an easy delivery – as I would any woman – it would certainly make for good television to watch a reality TV star giving birth. The truth is, you can’t fake your way through pain, no matter how much makeup you’re wearing.
