Mommyish Readers Love Both Sh*t Crunchy Mamas And Sh*t Urban Moms Say

Shit Urban Moms SayYou may not be all about babyccinos and Bugaboo strollers but that doesn’t mean you can’t chuckle at those who do. After polling readers about their favorite Shit Mommies Say meme, we have a winner — but not by much.

It appears that a slight majority of readers preferred “Shit Urban Moms Say” which is not be confused with “Shit Crunchy Mamas Say.” Only a mere 10% of readers found neither parody to be side-splitting.

One reader named Shannon commented that she could identify with both as a modern mother, writing:

Hmmmm, I think they are similar demographics. I identify with both. I’m a full time professor who bikes to the farmer’s market with my toddler in a convertible jogger/bike car, but walk with her in the mai tei. I breast feed (though none of the photos have ever been taken down – mine are discreet), cloth diaper, hired a doula, labored in water, gave birth naturally, and agree that elect[ive] c-sections are putting undo risk and delivering a baby before she’s ready for no good reason. I make all my own baby food, and try to feed him as healthy as possible. We debate what sorts of things we want to make sure his preschool provides (mandarin would be cool).

Another reader, Jennifer, suspected that the “Shit Crunchy Mamas Say” version may not be entirely mocking the beliefs in the video:

Having visited both respective sponsoring sites, it seems the “Crunchy Moms” video is less self-aware; I mean, the women on that website actually seem to *advocate* the things in the video. They’re making fun of themselves, but they’re not actually in on the joke, you know? Either way, it’s rich white lady entitlement all around!

I think “Sh*t Girls Say to Pregnant Women” is funnier than both of those and all moms can relate to it because we were all once pregnant.

I think it’s sad that feeding your baby healthy food rather than chemicals is considered to be “rich white lady entitlement”. Actually it’s much cheaper to make your own baby food! Mashing up fruit or veggies is not hard; anyone can do it at home in their blender in 5 minutes. Buying those tiny little baby food jars is more expensive.
