Forget Pot. The New Gateway Drug Is Masturbation!

Planned Parenthood

Parents may thank their lucky stars that their children are growing up in era in which Planned Parenthood exists. Although constantly getting attacked for providing contraceptives, fact-based sex education, and rape-counseling, the organization is still coming up with new ways to keep kids out of the dark regarding sexual health and safety. Yet, according to one anti-choice organization, Planned Parenthood is getting kids “hooked on sex” with information regarding masturbation and STD prevention.

That’s right. Planned Parenthood has now been equated with drug pushing. And masturbation is the new “gateway drug.”

The organization entitled American Life League created this video which although seems like a parody, is actually a legitimate claim that ALL is trying to put forth. ALL describes Planned Parenthood as “perverts” who are allowed “unfettered access to our children” with their “sex obsession.” The narrator states:

“Just as the goal of a drug dealer is to make drug addicts, Planned Parenthood’s goal is to make sex addicts and they follow the same business model. For instance, Planned Parenthood’s gateway drug is masturbation.”

The video goes on to state that many of the images of nudity and genitals that Planned Parenthood uses in its lessons would throw a pedophile in jail, saying:

“If a dirty old man showed these things to a 10-year-old kid in a park, he’d be arrested. But when Planned Parenthood shows them to kids in a classroom, it gets government money.”

Damn straight it would because context is everything. A “dirty old man” isn’t trying to educate kids about STD and pregnancy prevention when he whips out his kiddie porn collection on a playground. And conflating education and a fact-based understanding of sexuality with the intentions of pedophile is a perversion of logic and nothing more.

But if we’re going to be wagging fingers about who is selling kids a bundle of nonsense regarding sex, pointing out the hypersexualization of kids in pop culture is where its due. The permissive attitudes towards sexualizing girls from advertisements to TV shows to Marc Jacobs flat out ignoring age guidelines allows the consistent sexual interpretation of kids — and not just by hypothetical dirty men — but by our culture at large.

Planned Parenthood’s resources allow kids to decide sex on their own, readily-informed terms as evidenced in their “Am I Ready For Sex?” tab in their designated teen section. Vilifying one of the few online sources where kids can find sound information about sex consistently puts them at a disadvantage with regard their own sexual health.

Bwah hahahahahaha! These people are so incredibly stupid I have to laugh to keep from crying.

This is an uneducated article. First off, you close by stating that Planned Parenthood allows “allow kids to decide sex on their own” without seeing the oxymoron in “kids” & “decide sex”. Neurosciences for several years have confirmed that humans do not have good decision making abilities until after age 20, and this is of particular concern with their lifestyle choices. So the attitude portrayed in this article simple regurgitates popular agenda not reasoned thinking.

Separately, the picture used is clearly of an under-aged model acting suggestively in her underwear, which in itself is a sexualization of the young girl in this photo shoot. So the choice of picture for this article then sexually exploits and objectifies this poor young girl.

We are more than sexual animals. As humans, we have an innate value and the right to not be limited to our sexual apparatus. It is unfortunate that this article has done exactly that.

You just shot your credibility all to heck when you stated that “the picture used is clearly of an under-aged model….” Since when can you judge a female’s age just by looking at her groin and upper thigh area…..do it a lot, do you?!? You “clearlly” cannot know for certain the woman’s age because you can’t see her face. Her hands suggest she’s at least in her twenties. And I suggest that you’re an idiot!

Like it or not, teenagers “decide sex on their own” all the time regardless of what you think or whether or not you allow them. And let’s be clear: these particular services of Planned Parenthood regarding sex education and counseling are mostly for teenagers, not necessary kids. The goal is education, not ignorance and shame.

Like K said, teenagers can and will have sex whether Planned Parenthood is around or not.

However, Planned Parenthood WILL make a positive difference in that it helps us avoid this:

“Hmm… I’m not sure I put the condom on properly… Oh well, I’m sure I did. Maybe you should use a condom too! Two condoms is better than one right? Alrighty, I’ll just put this oil-based lube on, and everything should go juuuuuust fine. Also, I don’t mean to pressure you into this or anything, but if we don’t have sex, that means you don’t love me. Okay? Okay, so… I guess I just gotta… Jam it in there as hard as I can…”

You’re absolutely right. As humans, we do have innate value and the right to not be limitied to our sexual apparatus.

I will never, ever forget the time Planned Parenthood came to my high school to do a girls workshop. I’d just lost my virginity to my boyfriend. I didn’t like sex at all, but I figured that because I’d agreed to do it once, I had to keep doing it. It sounds so stupid now, but that’s your teen years for you.

When Planned Parenthood gave us the ‘your body, your choice’ talk, it was like the scales falling from my eyes. No, having sex once was not a contract for a sexual relationship. I never had to do it again if I didn’t want to.

It annoys me so much when people suggest that PP is all handing out condoms to teenagers and encouraging girls to have abortions. They, more than anyone else in my entire life, taught me that I have innate value and the right to not be limitied to my sexual apparatus.
