So I turned on Fox News in the middle of the day to watch President Obama’s latest press conference. After it was done, the unbelievably attractive Megyn Kelly had a few other stories. One was about a dude who is complaining that his ex-wife created an elaborate sting operation using hot ladies to lure him to drink and drive — all to gain a leg up in a custody battle.
But back in May, conservative radio host Mike Gallagher said that Megyn Kelly had been on maternity leave for way too long and he said something about how it’s a racket that women get to stay home and bond with their babies while men don’t get that luxury.
So what did she do? Well, she brought him on the show and asked him about it. First they talked about Timothy Geithner and then she asked him about his ridiculous comments about maternity leave.
She replayed what he said while he held his head in his hands, clearly embarrassed.
This is a rough transcript of what she had to say. He was sputtering a few responses in the middle, doing a very poor job of explaining himself:
“Would you care to explain those remarks, Mr. Gallagher? Maternity leave is a racket? … What a moronic thing to say!”
“Are you doubling down? Is maternity leave according to you a racket?”
“I want you to know that the United States is the only country that doesn’t require paid leave. I work for a nice employee that does give me paid leave.”
“What is it about getting pregnant and carrying a baby for 9 months that doesn’t deserve a few months of recovery and bonding?”
“You can’t answer the question because there is no answer, my friend!”
Completely humbled, Gallagher then responds:
“Let me give you an explanation …. I was drinking that day.”
OK, kind of goofy but I kind of loved that Kelly humiliated him so thoroughly on national television.
